350z Drift Build - VK56DE

I guess this is a good time to make at thread because all the boring stuff is done already. This first post is going to cover the last two days I worked on the car.

I have a really nice foot rest to kick around the shop these days. A VK56DE from a Nissan Titan. Looking for 500hp n/a but we'll see how that goes.



This is how the car looked in storage after I bought the shell from another shop when they abandoned the project.





I pushed it in to the proper shop to start really cleaning it out.











Then I came in on a Saturday to help do some odd and ends around the shop while I did more cleaning and prep. Over the day I shot this video.

Anyway, back to cleaning.















I have the seat, harness, and pedals on order so I can finish up the interior and finish painting. I am kinda holding on that part of the process. The engine still needs a rebuild too so there's a lot of updates to come.

I sold my 1997 BMW M3 for some funds, now I drive a 1995 Honda Civc DX (with automatic). Hope this is worth it!

VK build, nice!

I've heard it talked about plenty but don't know that I've ever seen a VK swapped Z here on NICO. Looking forward to seeing the progress.

And it's nice to see the VQ getting recycled and transplanted into something else too.

I really need a Titan bell housing. I can only find full transmissions which I really don't need. Anyone want to let me borrow one?

I will be posting videos of the S14 Saturday. We are taking it down the quarter mile Friday night. It takes a 150 shot of nitrous to keep the turbo spooled during launching. No big deal.

Fixed my temporary daily driver a little since the last update.



Nailed it.

If you look closely you can find a VK56DE sitting on the top shelf. We are trying to get a few stacked up to start breaking them apart.





In my spare time I've stripped the almost completely down to bare metal and painted more of the interior.





A couple more weekends and it will be completely black on the inside.

I am still in the early phase of working on the swap. Currently looking for another Z33 transmission, or more importantly, the factory mounts for one.

We are still waiting for the second CNC machine to fit the engine on to make adapter plates. Delivery got pushed way back.
