First off i dont want to hear:put a j30/q45/ jdm vlsd/ kazz/ect..

i want to use a 350z diff cause i can get one for almost free...

so here's the info our cars use a r200 diff.the 240sx that came with vlsd uses a r200v.

the r230v is off the tt300z and doesn't fit, the diff is bigger.

the 350z/g35 uses a r200v

so in theory the r200v may be the same diff (dimension wise) as the 240sx.

can some one confirm this?

wost case can i fit a r200v diff from a 350z/g35 into a s14 r200 pumpkin?

thanks

it's been done before, the only way I saw it done though was swapping the subframe.

Not to thread jack, but, using the 350z subframe...will that bolt right up...I also have access to an entire 350z and the diff would be free.

For people wanting to use V160 6 speed trans from the Supra for their 2JZ swaps, the 350Z's 3.3 final drive will be curcial.

Hope some one figures it out

i know what the gear ratios are, thats why i want the z final gear.

but can anyone tell me if i can just insert the z pumpkin into my s-chassis?

i did do a search but only j30/q45 r200v comes up nothing about the z33 r200v.

No...I'm almost positive it will not bolt right up. I'm pretty sure it would requige some fabbing skills.

theoretically, the internals should fit since they are both from the r200v housing. I've been told that the internals of a pumpkin are fairly universal as far as the bolts and stuff go...people have even put rx-7 lsd's in the r200v IIRC

I would be stoked if these was a drop-in affair.

Just curious why do you want the Z final gear? Even the Z guys don't like it and swap them out for 3.9

Why not just take the ring gear out of the 350Z rear and plant it into your current R200 or R230? I have a R230 Ring gear from a TT Z32 in my R200

Because no one has tried it.Maybe the Z ring gear/diff uses more ring gear bolts then the 240 gear/diff.

Its not like these questions have been answered and using the Z pumpkin etc is the only way...But so far no one has tried to do that so I ASSUME that this would be the easier way

That plus IDK too many people who want to mess with hybrid pumpkins...Z pinon and ring gear in a 240sx R200...

Any thoughts or theories?

i heard that all the r200 pinon /ring gears are the same its the output shafts and half shafts and pumpkins that differ.

but ill see if i can get a 350z vlsd cheap and compare it to my open diff ring and pinion.

weekend project if i can get this diff for under $50 bux

That would be awesome if you swaped the entire guts of a Z33's pumpkin into a S13/14's

That would be a nice little write-up

No heart man, just gotta give it a whirl. I think it will fit no issue but well have to find a guinea pig

yeah I'm ka-t as well with a t3/t4 and it's not hard to top out at 140+ mph in 5th with the stock 4.08 gears...I would like to tach about 2500-3000rpms at 80 on the freeway, that would be nice instead of the 3500 I'm taching at 80 now

yea 4.08 suck for ka-t

the 3.9 from the j30 may suit you spooled b/c i know you like the 1/4 mile racing, so you wont loss to much down low and still lower your rpms when crusing, it really does suck crusing at 80 doing 3500rpms...

Why does cruising at 3500rpms suck? I have a stock open diff welded and I can do 120 before redline in 4th.. and 150mph @ 6000rpms in 5th..

I got 30mpg on the highway doing 75 for 5 hours.. I have a fully built ka-t with a gt35... I guess it's the tune.

crusing at 3500 is loud and ****ty bad on gas milage.

that odd i never seen more then ~110 in 4th, and my speedo only goes to 120, so i can only assume i got past 140 b/c that was the speed of the other car was going and i was ahead.

longer gears will be in my benfit for my driving style.
