I fear my oil pump is on its way out 03 350z with 110,000....

after car is warmed up oil pressure does seems low 10-12psi on stock gauge. Blip the throttle oil pressure rises which is great. i do run royal purple 5w30. Anyways i like to speed and ill get on it, reach 130 or so coast in neutral and the Z dies...For a quick second oil light pops on and dies...So i fear oil pump, possibly bearings...Or could a faulty oil pressure switch be causing this...??? :frown: Love the car and the VQ. Will build if need be

What's the spec on the pump? At idle, the Z32 is supposed to only have more than 15.

Actually, just checked your FSM, spec is 14 psi. The stock gauge also isn't a very accurate indicator. I'd bet you're fine. If you're still worried, get an external tester and hook it up.

Where are you doing 130? My solution would be don't go 130 on public roads.

Mechanically what's wrong with it though, what kind of intake do you have? A lot of cone filters can cause turbulence that'll mess with the MAF and make the engine die.

Has it done this more than once? If not, I wouldn't be too bent out of shape about it.

Are you running a JWT pop charger, by chance?
