I installed new brakes on my 350z. However, after a few miles the brake pedal started to vibrate and pulsate. But, saying that the pedal vibrates is not enough detail. I have searched many forums and haven't found a solution... So here are the details of my specific problem.

The pedal would vibrate when coming to a stop. The vibration and pulse would come at around 15 mph until the car stops. The vibration is not present at high speeds. However, the pedal wouldn't vibrate when the brakes are cold so for the first mile or so the brakes make no vibration at all. I also checked if the steering wheel moves when I brake at high speed and at low speed when coming to a stop. The steering wheel doesn't move at all nor does it vibrate. I also didn't put a lot of grease on the pad.. could that cause it?

What do you all think might be causing this?

I also plan on bleeding the brakes and applying grease later but I doubt that will solve it...

Thanks, Any suggestions will help. :)

Yes. All the rotors and pads are new.

Did you thoroughly clean the rotors before you put them on? Every rotor I've seen had a costing to prevent rust as the rotors sat on the shelf. If you didn't get all of this off it could prevent the pads from properly bedding in.

Speaking of that, describe your bed-in procedure/process.

My first instinct with a pulsing pedal is an unevenly bedded pad.

Now that you mention it... I didn't clean the coating off. :ohno: Though I did what hawk pad box said to bed them in. I pressed the brake hard and then released for a couple of times. But I'm not quite sure if that is the right way. I have about 1500 miles on them right now. I thought the vibrations would go away after a while. Turns out it didn't.

Another possibility is that the rotors have excessive run out, ie they are warped or not square to the spindle. With new rotors the most likely cause is dirt between the spindle and rotor. You need a dial indicator to check this.

Wow. That sounds troublesome. I'll see if I can get my hands on a dial indicator and test them out. I hope that there is nothing stuck in between the rotor. If there is then I will just take apart the whole thing and clean it up with a brush and some cleaner.
