2003 350z, if I leave the car unused for 3 days battery completely drains, if I disconnect the battery & reconnect after 3 days it starts. Something seems to be draining the battery, the alt. charges the battery after a jump and as long as the car is driven every 2 days all is well. No after market electrical parts on car other than lo jack devise that has been on car since new. Could the alt. charge but also be responsible to discharge battery with lack of use....??? Any ideas out there... Thanx.

Get a volt-ohm meter to help find out whats draining you out.

The current battery is only about 4 weeks old, put in by Nissan, I had gone thru 3 other batteries in the last 6 months, advaned Auto would jut give me a new one when I brought in the drained ones as they were under warranty,,, I have read that an alt. even though its charging, "may" discharge batteries if there is a diode problem in it, to check this, unplug the alt. and leave it sit a few days and if it starts it Not the alt., ever heard of that...??? When Nissan installed the battery they said the alt. was charging and OK, but they can't find the discharge problem.... this is perplexing... any other thoughts that may be of help... Thanx,

I'd start by disconnecting the lojack, no one ever wants to blame aftermarket components, but I had a simple illuminated toggle switch to turns on my winch go bad and drain my battery

Something must have been wired wrong, causing it to stay on all the time and drain the battery that quickly. Not normal at all.

Seems like a lot of the 03 350Z's have more than several issues.

Actually have had very few problems with the car, have had a 300z and a 300zx turbo in the past and all were pretty well behaved. There are no after market radio, etc... the lojack came with the car and this battery problem just started about a year ago and no electrical work had been done to the car. I have heard that even though an alternator is charging, it "can" discharge a battery if gone bad. So, I will unplug the Alt. next time we go out of town (2 weeks) and if battery is not dead upon return then it must be the alt. & I really don't wanna spend the $ on an alt. right now so disconnecting the battery when we're gone seems like a less expensive solution... Thanx 4 all you guys advise...
