Howdy,

I'm getting ever closer to my 5 lug swap, but I'm starting to get worried about the clearances in my front and rear wells in regards to the stock suspension I still have.

For reference, the wheels I want to put on are 17x7.5 w/ 30mm offset in the front, and 17x8 w/ a 33mm offset in the rear. I know they'll be big jutting out, but I don't mind that at all for now. My big worry is clearance with the stock suspension.

With the added size of the wheels and stock tire sizes (225/50/17), will they rub the bottom of the spring assembly? I've got about 1" of clearance with the OEM 240 wheels and I don't like how the new wheels will seem to shape up. Same question goes for the rear. Am I just uneducated about the nitty gritty of suspension workings? If so, school me! Also for reference, the stock rims I have are 15"s w/ 195/60/15 oem tires on.

Thanks!

As far as clearance issue goes, front and rear should clear just fine. Using this calculator, your stock tire radius is 12.1 and new tires is 12.9. 0.8 inch difference in radious.

Recently, I bought 17x8 +38 rims with 235/40 17 tires, tried them on stock setup and they cleared just fine. I mean... cleared top and side without a spacer. You should replace stock shocks and springs too otherwise your car will have 4x4 look. Search or post in Wheels and Tires forum and you will find some good info there.

Sweet. I don't mind the 4x4 look for now.

They (along wiht most all G35 coupe and 350Z wheels) should fit and clear Z32 brake conversions as well.

Oh! Didn't see that. Yeah, they will work, so do get them. I'm sure you will go for aftermarket setup sooner or later.
