Limp it to auto zone and have the code read or to a local shop just tell em to read the code that's all you need.
Otherwise there is a way to read the ecu for errors manually but u will probably have to pull your seat off if u have the bench and no ext cab.

if you want a cheap new one search for it on AIP Electronics website mine was $120. I ordered one and one was completely faulty, now I'm on my second one and I am having cold start issues so I guess I will be asking for another one. Hopefully u have better luck if you go this route. 3rd time is a charm right? lol
hint: when looking for a new or used one make sure to pay attention to how many screw holes it has some MAFS have 3 or some have 2 and they are not interchangeable as far as I can tell.
