i hope someone can help me. ive searched the postings and couldnt find the answer to myy question.
I just bought a 95 hardbody, 4 cyl. 4x4 5 speed for dirt cheap. when driving once you get up to about 3500 rpm it totaly falls on its face, looses all power and pics back up again around 2500. truck is slow to accelerate (im used to driving my turned up 7.3 powerstroke so might just be im used to a lot of torque ) also if its just idling and you mash the pedal it stumbles then pics up but again 3500 is all shes got.

i went ahead and replaced the fuel filter bc it looked pretty old and cleaned up the spark plugs and replaced the wires. i have not checked timing or changed distributor cap/ button. so what gives? i hope someone can help. ive always had good luck with my past nissans and want to continue that

89 and 90 240sx & 90-95 Pathfinders.

Limp it to auto zone and have the code read or to a local shop just tell em to read the code that's all you need.

Otherwise there is a way to read the ecu for errors manually but u will probably have to pull your seat off if u have the bench and no ext cab.

Good luck!

if you want a cheap new one search for it on AIP Electronics website mine was $120. I ordered one and one was completely faulty, now I'm on my second one and I am having cold start issues so I guess I will be asking for another one. Hopefully u have better luck if you go this route. 3rd time is a charm right? lol :gotme

hint: when looking for a new or used one make sure to pay attention to how many screw holes it has some MAFS have 3 or some have 2 and they are not interchangeable as far as I can tell.

No prob I know first hand how frustrating this particular problem is. I am still dealing with problems, seems for these trucks it is never ending. Luckily I just found all this stuff recently because of my troubles I ran into some stuff that wasn't for my truck but i knew it may come in handy for someone hehe

question, when do you take the truck up to 3500rpm on every gear? i really never leave 3000 and really only go up to 2700 im wondering cause id think it might not be very good to go up that high every gear. i dont see a power difference anything past 3000. and is anybody else hb as slow as mine, top speed around 80 could go faster but really wound up, prolly just the 5 speed

well i guess my truck must be crazy, question though for the past 2 years the trucks been squealing (95 model xe single cab) and recently the steering went out and we fixed it and replaced the idler arm but it still squeals......new belts (gates is the brand) dou possibly know if theres like a common problem amongst these trucks, i think its either the ac compressor (the ac still works though) or the starter
