Read in one topic that this set up is as good as a cat back? I mean Keeping the rest stock pipes and muffler perfofmance wise and with lower noise than either Borla or Stillen. High flow cats will void my sedan G35'warranty but that would be a next step.

you won't get the performance that you're looking for without the entire cat back package. it's not as good as a cat back because it's not a cat back. don't waste your time with high flow cats on a semi stock exhaust (y pipe only). the high flows won't produce the power that you want compared to a full cat back setup - like Stillen's

if just the y-pipe was as good as a cat back than we'd all just have the pipe (and some extra $ in our pockets).

look at my sig for better mod options.

I understand, but will the y pipe and high flow cats be a waste of $$$ with no benefit at all?

i don't think you'll get your money's worth in HP out of those 2 mods alone. your car will be louder but i don't think you'll see that much of a performance increase. the high flow cats are illegal, too, and won't pass inspection. i'd start with a Stillen cold air intake and z-tube.

i agree. the Stillen exhaust should be the next mod. it compliments the intake VERY well and will add HP and a nice sound. ****you could also get a plenum spacer**** less expensive than the exhaust (less hp, too, though)

This stillen exhaust, the manager at the dealer said that it would void my warranty, i willtry to convince him on the plenum spacer, but being the Y pipe a nissan part I wonder if it would at least make the car a bit more eficient in terms of gas mileage an a bit sportier growl. The car is fast as is so making it faster will increase risk and also driving in trafic most of the time i will not be able to take advantage of this extasis that additional power will provide. Pls coment.

WHHHAAAAATT!!!

Walk up to that service Manager and then stomp him!! He's full of it. How is an exhaust going to Void your warranty?? Not to mention I've had my car in before for work and spoke to the dealer...and exhaust will NOT void your warranty. My car is leased and look at all my mods...NONE of them void a warranty unless you are to have a problem with your car and it was a DIRECT result of your mod.

He's full of crap

Yup, the dealer is full of it. Its also there responsibility to prove that the damage was caused by the aftermarket part. You're safe with simple bolt-ons like intake/exhaust. But get into big power adders like boost and NOS, thats a different story!
