I just bought my 2007 350Z a few weeks ago. I am getting the spinning/grinding sound when my car is in neautral. When I press the clutch in, the sound goes away. Does anyone know if this is normal or should Nissan fix it? The sound doesnt sound normal to me.

Take it back and have them take a look at it. Any noises like that aren't usually normal.

Being a few weeks out I'm going to have to say its a defect and take it in before you possibly mess something up in the trans. Sounds like a bad throw out bearing.

Though it is hard to say without hearing the sound first hand you could have a bad TOB (throw-out bearing). The sound would go away when the pedal is depressed because you are loading the system.

Though this is a new car...I have to ask, did you opt for any clutch or flywheel options to be installed ahead of purchase? If so, let me know what you got and this may shed some light on the situation too. Thanks

No I did not opt for any additional clutch or flywheel options. It is all stock on my 2007 350Z Touring. I am going to take it in and see what they say. The noise gets louder sometimes and not as loud other times. It doesnt seem normal like they told me over the phone. I will keep you all posted.

Thanks for your responses!
