So the other night, I am sittin', chillin' at a red light. Along comes this gorgeous old Malibu (69?) with a 350. I look at it smile and give him a thumbs up, sayin I like the ride. He rapps his engine and nearly deafens me. This thing was beefy. I am thinkin. a'right he has too much for me, I aint even gonna mess with him. He launches the green light and just spins the wheels, so I am like it's on. Having the good hook up and the wonderful high end pull of 1.1 bar I quickly got away from him. I missed 3rd the first time and still smoked the hell out of him. Wonder if he still thinks all imports are weak?

Was it a red Malibu with black stripes?

If so, I know the guy up in Northwest WA who used to own it. Beautiful car.

nope, still going to be pushrod, only with 3 valves per cylinder instead of 2.

Touchdown038 -I wouldn't call it a red, but more orange, but yeah that is probably the one, big ol' meats in the rear? What was done to it at that point?

Is everyone making reference to the C7 Vette, the C6 has been out for awhile now. The C7 is the one that gets rid of the flip up lights. Unless I am totally off base. I can hang through 3rd with the base vette, don't know about the Z06 as I have yet to find one.

Wow, only to add to an already heave valvetrain. Though, it's cheap for them to do, I think us import lovers may be lucky that GM doesn't start putting a more modern valve train and head in their large motors. We'd never be able to keep up.

bvanev - Yeah, orange with black stripes. That car (if it's the same one) is a 70 Chevelle Malibu, and was built by an 18 year old kid. 350, forged pistons and rods, big cam (not sure about the size), B&M Super Sport Shifter, 2800 RPM stall convertor (weird they spun them then), basically a damn cool, very built car.

He sold it to a guy in Everett though, too much of a cop magnet. Did you see it around Seattle?

Actually I saw it in Everett, on Everett Mall Way. I smoked him on that gentle left onto Evergreen Way. It was an older man and his girlfriend or wife.

Glad that I can help reunite a builder with his car.
