I was wondering the best way to remove the original emblems. I had a friend that removed the Jetta emblems on his VW but it looked like s*** because of all the leftover residue, I'm trying to avoid this and save my paint. Any suggestions? Also any tips for the application of the new emblems?

I think there was a thread about this recently...

Use a hairdryer with fishing line and goo gone. The hairdryer will get the glue soft so you can remove it with the fishing line. Goo gone gets rid of the residue.

WD40 does a good job at removing the post-sticky mess as well.

peanut butter will take the goo off too.

Go to a auto paint supplier and ask for an ereaser wheel. It looks like the orange/yellow erasers you used in grade school, only round. It will go in the end of a drill. Go EASY and with LIGHT pressure and it will take it all off. Too hard and too fast will burn the paint.

It is made by Astro Pneumatic. The part number its 400E.

i just did this to my front emblem, and removed the 350z letters. i used a credit card. slid easily right under them, then used goo gone to remove the residue. didnt ruin the paint one bit.to apply the new emblem i cut 3m double sided tape to fit it

Also...a clay bar will remove almost anything from paint.
