No it is not worth the time and the effort. If you do an engine swap, do a 03 - 04 3.5L maxima engine swap. A little more managable.

Its my firm belief that the worlds problems can be solved by the right application of a chevy 350. However, a 350 in a maxima would be a great task. First of all..its a rwd engine...so you could do major modifications to the maxima and make it rwd, but I don't think its worth it. Or you could figure out a way to mount the engine for fwd application...but I don't see this happenening without alot of money. If it were me...I'd buy the 350 and save it somewhere for an american or european rwd drive car you might get down the road....they fit niceley in e30 bmws and would make that car fly. But for your maxima....no

I bet one of the various Cadillac front wheel drive transmissions could be made to work... but that'd still be a nightmare. Probably the hardest part would be finding some springs to make up for the added 200-300+ lbs of weight in the front of the car. Might be able to get a set of coilovers to handle it... but in the end it would just be best to modify the stock VQ30 or swap in a VQ35.
