I bet it pulls real nice to redline with the extra 50 whp. Thats pretty impressive numbers with only 10.5 psi, how much for the cams? heh, interesting date you joined this forum.

Thats SICK HP for such low boost. It seems people might have been wrong about the KA head not flowing well. All it needed was a cam that was designed for boost.

The cams retail price is $438.00 You will also need upgraded valve springs as these cams will coil bind the factory springs.

Support your NICO sponsors and purchase thru them.

The more I think about this the more amazing I realize it is. If you think about it, 10psi of boost is not even doubling the amount of air in the cylinders, yet you are getting more than twice the horsepower. Those cams and the tuning must be doing a very nice job. Which 240 was this on?

the more people post about the KA motor and the things it can do the more it seems that Nissian desided at the last moment not to turbo the motor.

pistons good to 350~400hprods good to ~500hphead that has no need for agressive portinggood stock compression (mid 89+)

It revs to 7+grand with the JWT ecu....and with a power band like that it doesn't need to rev higher.

Ivan, it's been said before but you kick *** dude. And for the record I am ordering the V3 cams, already e-mailed them about it. Muhahahah!

You have to love those cams, no drop off at all and the totally cure the topend drop off. Once again Ivan comes through with the R&D. Thanks for intel bro.

It is exactly the same set-up as 638 rwhp, only change was the cams and they lowered the boost to base wastegate pressure ~10.5-11psi. Correct me if I am wrong Ivan (anybody).

Impressive numbers once again.

If this setup is using the EMS, that explains a large part of the gains. But those cams are good regardless.

How would the EMS effect the gains of the cams? ALL aftermarket products will work better with tuning. The theory is all the same, the cams are allowing more air to enter the engine and will thus need more fuel. So as long as you have something that can add/subtract fuel from the mixture at certain RPM's the cams will still have the same gains that Ivan is seeing.

Thus, JWT + SAFC people will see the SAME GAINS. I don't understand what would be different unless he retarded/advanced the cam gears but he didn't. It's the same in the Honda community, big cams mean power gains but once you tune them by either adding or subtracting fuel out they show even MORE gains.

AEM EMS means he can take full advantage of the cams. I'm willing to bet the gains would be smaller with less sophisticated management. As you said, he can tune the motor better with the EMS .

Thats like saying that bolting on a T3/T4 would give you the same gains, regardless if you have a hacked MAF or EMS.Just my theory...

I agree, I wonder if the motor was tuned after cam install. If it was then the test is irrelevent. If it wasn't, then the cams are awsome.

im with holyshiznit, with any decent type of fuel managment and a capable tuner, the results will be similar whether you have a ems or a simpler program. what makes a difference is the tuner not the means of tuning. an aem ems just allows you to do a lot more but, and i'm sure ivan would agree, anything that can control fuel and timing maps will get a similar result at least for wot runs.

This motor has ALL the strength mods. This is the same car that put 638 whp down.

WD
The motor was tuned for the new cams to the same AF as the V2 cams. The first run on the dyno sheet with the V3 cams was actually about the third run but the first that I could actually run to redline. The AF was quite lean up there as the cams allowed more air in the motor. You can see the first run on the graph also had 349 whp due to it still being somewhat lean. The second and third runs on the dyno sheet were back to the AF ratio we had with the V2 cams installed. Had I not tuned the EMS, it would have showed more power and potentially hurt the motor.

Trust me, this is as accurate of a test as anybody could possibly do to see the gains in these cams. They flat out move WAY more air up top.

I'm just saying, you can't expect the installation of the cams alone to net anything close to what you guys did with the the dyno tuning.

The cams make power without a doubt, I just want everyone to realize they'll need to tune the motor for the best results, not just a plug and play type of mod.

I don't think anyone was arguing with you WD. No one should expect monster gains without proper A/F adjusting. My only comment was that Ivan netted gains because of an EMS, which is flat out wrong. In all reality an SAFC will do the same thing. It's just a matter of adjusting the A/F.

Cheers to Ivan and everyone though. I hope to be the first to have them besides the twins car.

I basically drive my car to work every day and I race on the weekends. My question would be , how would gas mileage be , with that kind of lift , on a daily driver.

if you dont boost your car it should be still 23-25 mpg. once you boost it obviously, alot more fuel will be dumped. so if you are worried about gas mileage, then stay out of the throttle. if you are really worried, then buy turbo diesel Jetta. jk lol
