Hi guys, yet another brake upgrade question. I promise I searched and found some information but none that cover this exact question.

What I have are 32mm R32 GT-R brake calipers.

What I would like to know is do I have to use 32mm x 296mm GTR discs or can I get away with 30mm x 280mm 300ZX discs? I've already confirmed that the pistons in the calipers are fine with the 30mm width, but I'm not sure if the pads will grab the disc correctly if it's a smaller circumference...

We're talking a savings of several hundred dollars if I can use the ZX discs. I'm sure that heat disipation in the ZX discs is slightly less, but can't be that different, especially since my car weighs several hundred lbs less than the 300 or the Skyline.

Has anyone done this?

You cannot use the ZX discs. The width is fine, but they are too small in their diameter.

Just drop the cash and get the GTR rotors.

Will do.

Any suggestions on brands of discs and/or suppliers?

I used eBay special rotors, the came slotted and zinc plated, and I've abused them for about 8 months (10k+ miles on the road, 1 lapping day, several drift days, innumerable back road bombing sessions) and they have not warped or cracked yet.
