I have an 2005 g35x that i brought with 18k 7 months ago. I had a good feeling that my car being 3 years old, with such low miles when i brought it, that it was probably just sitting up some where. That meant my fluids, for lack of a better word, were stale. But anyway i decided to wait til 30k before i changed them all. (except oil of course)
Before my service on saturday, on friday i went up to Forged Performance in Marietta, Ga. To my surprise and delight there was a GTR right in front of the shop that belonged to the owner. There was also another GTR in the shop getting a new radiator put in. (they weighed it first... so i'm assuming they were doing some weight reduction) They had many g35s, EVOs, and 350zs in the shop and outside waiting to be worked on. So i can see why the owner is able to afford an $80k GTR I walked out with some info on their next open house May 2nd, 2009, they are doing dynos for $40 that day And i got an 5/16th ENGINE SPACER finally for $212 out the door. (I'll have another post once i install my spacer)
Now to my service on saturday... i got a lot done! here is the list:
Royal Purple Oil Change with K&N oil filter
Base Idle check, Timing, and self learn clear
Induction Flush
Front rotors and pads with brake fluid flush
Rotate and balance tires
I got the NEW SYNTHETIC transmission flush (fluid part # BG3124)Man does my G switch extra smooth now!
Both Drive Belts replaced (cracked and a slight squeak)
But i still have to go back and get a warranty fix... i have a humming sound in my cabin that is from the fuel delivery to the engine... i forgot what the part was called, but they are ordering the part and will fix it for free this week. my general warranty is up march 26th, 2009... so i took it just in time
Now for the slight drama...
While i was waiting for my car i was given a 2007 or 2008 g35 sedan base model. i wasnt that much impressed from my 2005 g35x, while i do have prem pkg C, the cabin seem smaller than my 2005, and i like the 2005 styling better on the outside. It was raining on saturday and that rwd g35 didnt feel safe and grounded like my g35x. The g35 sedan was breaking lose with just a nudge of the throttle... i even did a power slide on to an on-ramp by a mistake! luckily i can drive or i would of wrecked the loaner car. On every red light i had to barley press the throttle so the rear tires wouldn't break lose. I mean i was on my A game driving the whole time, in order to keep the wheels from break lose too much. AND YES VDC WAS ON. I think i'm going chalk it up the the goodyear RSA tires that were on it. (i have the bridgestone EL42 on my g35x, and they are great) The bottle line i was disappointed, but i did like the center console and steering wheel size better than my g35x.
Great weekend overall though. I love my g35x
