Hi, I am new to this forum. I've owned 3 Nissans. I've leased a 2015 Rogue SL AWD and will turn it in in April this year. At the last oil change, the service adviser gave me a list of "recommended" maintenance at 30K miles. The total cost is about $1,300. I looked at the manual and it says under standard maintenance to inspect not change fluids as the dealer recommended. I plan on having it serviced by a private mechanic and if any fluids need replacing I will be sure it is done. If I don't do all of the dealer's recommended service items, will I be liable for them when I turn in the car? Thanks in advance for your help!

My 2016 Rogue SL has 44k miles on it now and we didn't do that 30k maintenance, so that means you won't be liable for it. It's just another way for the dealership to pocket more money from you. If you are going to change the fluids, do a drain and fill on the transmission fluid, but have the mechanic first give it a check. Also, you must use Nissan fluids or Nissan spec fluids so nothing bad can happen to the vehicle.

I'd look into or ask the dealership about the details of the lease regarding service options. I don't know myself as leasing has never been to my financial benefit. Keeping records no matter what type of service you do, including receipts for stuff you buy and put on yourself.

The answer to your question is to replace the engine air filter and in-cabin microfilter, change the oil, and rotate the tires. That plus one of those questionable "free 128 point inspections" from any Nissan dealer should suffice.

If you're going to trade the vehicle in for something new in three months, how many miles do you expect to add between now and then? I probably wouldn't bother doing anything, especially if the air and cabin filters were replaced at 15K.

Replacing the transaxle (AWD) fluid, CVT fluid, radiator coolant, brake fluid, and spark plugs are all optional at 30K. Most people don't do those until 60K and they're fine. Spark plugs are technically supposed to last 100K, but I plan on doing mine at 60K. If you're replacing brake pads and rotors on all four wheels at the same time and the brake fluid hasn't been changed in a while, that's a perfect time to flush the brake lines and replace the fluid.
