In the interest of staying with an affordable (reasonably) setup, and with a more stock appearance I was thinking of going with the 16x8.5 300zx twin turbo rear wheels all the way around. The offset is +35 which according to the offset calculator means that The clearance from stut housing to the inside of the wheel will be 27mm LESS. The outside edge of the wheel will EXTEND an extra 37mm. I dont know if this is enough clearance from the wheel to the strut housing, is it? The reason i wouldnt just use the 16x7.5 fronts is merely because I would like to rotate my tires...I anticipate wearing through back tires much more quickly than front tires ;) Thanks for the help! Oh, and this will be going on a 91 hatchback.

Not enough clearence between strut and wheel..up front at least. Not sure about the rear but the front is like 10mm's into the strut

ouch that'll suck...is there any way duct tape can fix it? If I went to the 7.5 fronts and just forgot about getting the wheels to be rotateable then I would have 14mm LESS clearance up front...does that mean they would still be 4 mm away from clearing? If so...any way to pick up that 4 mm to make them work? I know I've seen it done before!

You want to run 7.5" w/ a 35mm offset?? That set up would work just fine. I wasn't 100% clear if you were keeping the same offset or not.

I really like the thought of getting some TT wheels for a spare set. Killer wheels.

well, I want the 8.5's in the back...7.5's just arent wide enough for the built CA :) but if I have to I can go down to 7.5's in the front although I would rather just have 8.5's all around so that I could rotate the wheels...but if not it's still worth it :) I like the idea of sticking with stock nissan wheels just for the sleeper aspect, it looks modified but not in a really hooked up kinda way...not the please steal my car kinda way...

I looked up the offset on the 300zx rims and I believe that even the 7.5s have a 40mm offset. This could be a problem with any type of aftermarket coilover and will probably be quite close on stock struts. The chance of you having to use spacers on the fronts is fairly good.

hmmmm, but which 300zx rim's did you find +40 on, I found +35 on the twin turbo's but I'm not sure if that was all the way around or not. It was quite hard to track down the offsets! I will probably never have coilovers so that wouldn't be an issue to me, as long as they clear the strut's I'd be happy. Thanks for the help!

Edit: I found out that the front 16x7.5's have a +45 offset and the rear 16x8.5's have a +35 offset on twin turbo z's.

Actually, i screwed up. The 7.5's have a 45mm offset and the 8.5s have a 35mm offset.

well darn, that's what I just found and edited in :) So I take it that 24mm less clearance in the front is not going to cut it?

I would doubt it but im just guessing. You could always go out to your car and eyeball it.

Yeah...and I would if it wasnt going to be 30 miles away for the next two weeks :( I've just gotten on this 300zx wheel kick and have to figure out if they will work :) I am fairly certain that the NA wheels (7.5 wide all the way around) would work, but I was really looking for something wider for the 300 or so hp I should have providing I dont screw up too bad...I know....I could use twin turbo wheels in the back and NA wheels in the front...the perfect solution...ghetto style.

Yea that would work...OR you could just get the 8.5s in the back and leave your stock rims up front and save money and have mix and match rims going on!! :)

hahaha, man that'd be tacky...but tempting and cheap. But I could'nt do it, my girlfriend wouldn't want to ride around in it :( So what size spacers do you think I would need to fit the +45 300zx wheels up front? Can you use spacers safely?

Hey...after looking at that picture, I'm seriously considering it! It'd get me the contact patch I want...at the cheap price...and it's not blatantly wrong!

There is nothing horribly wrong with it and i've seen ppl actually do it on purpose w/ aftermarket wheels. You get the added grip in the rear and save a few dollars. So what if it isn't the best looking thing in the world!

Well, I think when I need new tires (shouldnt be long after I get it running ;)) I will try to pick up some of those wheels...but it also means I'll have to do the 5 lug conversion.

What about the FD RX-7 wheels? I don't know the offset but they're 16x8 and really light. You'd have to do a 5 lug conv. if you got an S13 though

eh, I'll have to do it anyway....I'll check and see what the offset is on the Fd wheels
