Ok I am seriously thinking of buying a new car. I like to both drift and drag race. SO I've narrowed it down to either the 300zxTT or the 240sx SE hatchback. I like both. both have different features which I like. but I am really partial to t-tops for some reason. Which car should I buy? 90-96 300zx Twin Turbo? Or S13 SE hatchback?300zxTT or s13 SE hatchback?

I'd vote, but it's your decision. You really should specify how much money you can spend. A 300zx TT may be the faster, but the maintenance alone will cost you a bundle. I'm more partial to the 240 because it's more reliable and the parts are cheaper, but if you have the money get a zx. You might want to think about whether or not you'll need a backseat, never know when you'll need room for passengers. If it'll be your only car you must consider the practicality.

You can go a lot faster in the 240 for a lot less money. And 300Zs are not the best handling, that's for sure. But anything can be fixed with money, it's your choice.

I like the 300ZX for the power and solid chassis. The only things I don't like about the 300ZX is how tough it is to find a clean/unabused TT or N/A for a decent price. Also, the wheel base is just too long compared to the S13. With the money you could use to purchase a TT, you could pick up a clean S13 and have some $$ left over for mods.

Another thing, since the 300ZX is a V6 sports car, it doesn't get very good gas mileage. However, the lack of gas efficiency is made up in power. The car was built with longevity in mind, but when maintenance is required, it can prove to be high. For a car it's age anyways.

Go for the Z if you can find a good one.I had a 91 2+2 and I loved it.True the TT is known for some high maintenance costs, but thats a Z for ya.BTW: You also get to be a Z owner which is like owning a Harley or Vette..you belong to a die hard group.

300ZX. It has t-top's and is turbo. I love the 240 and all, but I would get the 300 in a heart beat.

Z all the way- again - if you can find out. And if you can get your hands on a 2+2, that'd be good too. The back seats are only good for 1 more passenger behind whomever is riding shotgun, but as for me who never carries anyone back there- makes a great place for groceries or whatever. -Kev

I would have to say the 240.. aside from the fact that i have one and i love it.. It handles well and is easy to fix(cheap too) .... and its alot more sporty although i do like the low profile look of the Z... but its up to you Seigi(Say-g lol)

Normally you could see from my sig that I actually have a 84 300zx. So I am kinda partial to them. But I get bored of cars real easily so now its time for another car. whether its a 2 or 4 seater does not matter to me. but I would like to hear more opionions from as many people as possible.

I guess another factor could be insurance prices. Im sure the 300ZXTT will definitely raise it compared to a 240sx. I would ask myself if you have any future plans? Like are you getting married or having a kid or going to college? I guess think about how much your gonna spend. Its not hard to find a good condition 300 for cheap. You can find plenty of 240's around and buy it for less than half the price of a 300. Stick with the 240!

BTW Happy B-day next Tuesday. Mine is the same.

From a non Z or 240 owner, I would go with the Z as long as cost isn't really a concern. I personally like the look of the Z more than the 240 and it has some more giddyap. But, it is really your decision, so whatever you would be happiest with. I wouldn't worry too much about the future, enjoy the present.

I get the feeling that you aren't the richest guy around. No offense intended, I've owned a 95 240 se for over a year and I am just beginning to mod it. Follow your gut, but be careful. I'd hate to see you invest in a Z and get buried in the other costs involved, i.e. insurance, gas, parts, etc.

yeah not too rich indeed. I can only afford one though. If I get the 240 I will have plenty of money left over. but if I get the Z I will have to make payments which isnt something I like to do. This is why its such a hard decision.

If it'll be your only car, go for practicality. I was looking for Supras Zs and RX-7s before I decided to find a 240. I'm glad I ended up with my 240, I'd be deep in the hole if I had one of those others. Your monthly payments and insurance will cost you so much it'll be really hard to mod the z, especially since the mods tend to cost more.
