Hey guys I'm kinda new here... I need your help! My 300zx z32 vibrates only when I step on the gas , I can feel the vibration coming from under my seat and I know its not engine related.. so I suppose that my driveshaft needs balancing or maybe the carrier bearing is broken.

I have heard that I can get a one piece one from the z1 motorsport website and I have also heard that some people have replaced the carrier bearing (which nissan says its not replaceable) and the vibration problem was solved.

I can't spend that much money right now so I just can't buy the z1 driveshaft, I would like to go with carrier bearing replacement so the questions are:

Have you guys replaced your bearing carrier? If so, was the problem solved? where did you buy it? and the most importart one.. can any mechanic do the replacement? (are there special tools/machines needed??)

Thanks in advance!

Sadly, the Z1 driveshaft is proly the cheapest way to fix this problem. You have to find a reputable shop to repair the carrier bearing, and this can cost more than just get a Z1 driveshaft. The problem will also be gone for good if you go with the Z1 driveshaft.

Shop around, Z1 isn't your only option for a once piece.

I have heard that the driveshaft gets damaged when replacing the stock exhaust system with an aftermarket & not refitting the heat sheilds. Anything in that, Jerry & co? Mine is like this, no major vibration yet, but my Z Dr says be ready to replace, and soon.

hey man i had that problem last summer with my 300zx and it costed me litteraly nothing to fix it.you could do it yourself.lift your car and see that there is a rubber washer on your muffler near the center of the chassy and its pissible that its pretty much worn out. you could remove it completly or pay 5$ and get a new one. i removed mine completly and i havent had a problem with it at all.try that out and let me know what happens

take care Dom

Well with my car...I feel a hard vibration when I hit over 6000 rpms coming from under the center console..... I wonder if replacing that rubber washer would help that?

I was getting some bad vibration from under my car when ever I drove it hard or when ever I got it up to around 60 or more sounded like it was coming from under the center console everybody said drive shaft and to have it replaced as a one piece but after talking to a couple friends that have had the same problem and beat up thier 300 like I do I was told rather than going with a one piece just keep with a two piece. A couple buddys have tried out the one piece shafts from a couple different places I wont mention thier names but the end result were the same SNAPPED drive shaft. Apparently some of the one piece shafts they tried just did not hold up when it came down to race time. Decided to take my friends advise considering he knew first hand what it like to snap a one piec drive shaft like a twig. Bought me a re manufactured one from the same place he got his, wholesaleimportparts, the place was highly recommended and a couple of my 300zx buddys have used them as well as these guys drive their cars HARD. Got the drive shaft for a bout $500 and had it installed almost a month ago had my car on the track a few times already and couldnt be happier. Information below...

HI everyone,
I've been peeking around the forum for about 3 weeks and I'm a 2-week owner of a 92 NA 2+2 (Ya me!). I'm experiencing poor acceleration and vibration around 60mph and above. Is there a visible inspection to confirm a driveshaft problem? I plan to do some of the other tests for fuel and air pressure.
Gas milage is terrible (less than 30 miles on a half tank) and there's a smell of gasoline. HELP!!

Work done so far:
Cleaned K&N Air Filter
New NGK's 6-11b
New fuel filter
New shocks

Need to check the CAS and timing. I'm not sure if #6 coil is good or bad.
Building up the nerve to pull my plenum and check injectors.
Any thoughts or ideas?
You guys have offered some awesome advice- Great reading!!
