Hi, I'm new to the forum and have a 1990 z32 300zx NA. I am hoping to replace my IACV setup - I have the part already - and have been looking for a good guide on the replacement process.

I have already searched the forum, and if it exists, I wasn't able to find it.
I also have the online FSM and am looking through that.

Just hoping someone might have some more information to point me towards.

Thanks

Remove hoses, remove connectors (They have those stupid PITA metal hook clips), I'm pretty sure just 4 bolts, and a new gasket and you're done.

Pretty simple with Ace's instructions, trouble is the lack of space to work. HEAVILY recommended is the upgraded harness, as the old ones (and OEM replacements) are NOT moisture-shielded and is the cause of your issue(s) most likely unless the IACV guts are caked. Z1 and others all carry the upgraded harness IIRC, not too expensive either.

Thanks for the replies.
I ended up powering through and making step-by-step notes for myself as I went.

The only troublesome part was the bottom-inside bolt of the IAA unit. For a minute I thought it wasn't gonna go in and catch, but then some magic occurred and I was able to get it in.
Hand space was definitely an issue. Are there any recommendations on getting those hard-to-reach bolts more easily for the future?

Also, I'm pretty sure I have an upgrade harness. It was completely replaced this past year.

Would there be any interest in the step-by-step I wrote up for myself being posted here?

No harm in it if you'd like to take the time, i'm sure someone will find it useful in the future.

Every one really has their own style to those pita bolts. I personally try to do the "French cigarette" method between my index finger and middle finger and then work the index finger around to put pressure while maybe rotating.
