300zx wont start

1990 300zx 2+2 AUTO

turns over fine

new inhibator---setup correct per FSM
new engine wiring harness and outer Harness
new battery---reads 12.45
new starter
new starter relay
new relay in box under hood (ing coil and egi) i have 4 green and black ones that test fine

ok here's the deal

rebuilt engine went ahead and replaced both outer harnesses with new ones from Z1

ok after the engine was reinstalled ---the car wouldnt start with the key
but will start if you bypass(touch both wires together--brw wire and the one next to it wht i think) the starter relay

i unhooked the alarm box----by the ecu--the one that held u by two screws
still wont crank

I've taken the old starter relay and the new one and put them in my 91 300zx ---still works ---as with relays----just to rule out new ones that may have been bad when i bought them

chk both switches on the pedals ---work fine



I ordered a new key switch since mine is worn out anyways---so maybe thats it??

OK got new key switch and still the car wont start---now everyone tells me its the alarm system--so i unhooked it again---by the ecm---now could it be the door tamper switch?? thats in the key cylinder?? I know that if I close all the doors and lock the doors ---the SEC light will come on---and i can turn it off by turning the key but I cant unlock the hatch with the key(if one cylinder is bad could this be why it wont start??)

AS IN WONT START--I mean WONT TURN OVER!!!!!!!!!!!

Now I can get it to turn over if i take the Brown and white striped wire in the starter relay and ground it out--then turn the key it will start!!!!!!!!!!

any clues???

WOW!, dare I ask if it starts by crossing wires have you checked if it closes the circuit when turning the key? could be as simple as a worn contact in the IGN cylinder.

new cylinder!!

now when i jump it out ---per fsm ---ground brown/wht wire --this bypasses alarm system----it will start with key........BUT>>>>>>.............will only run for at the most 10 seconds----will start and run everytime with no prob ---but wont run long---fuel pressure is fine

i cant even rev it up!!

come on...someone got help out here.....im about burned out

i was thinking it might be the ECM---but i have no codes but 55

i could take a ecm out of my other cars and try----is a manual trans ecm different than a AUTO??????
