Hello -
I help on this 1990 300zx non turbo 2+2. After two hard working days of installing 6 fuel injectors and new wire connectors to them my car turns over but not start. Any help on this matter would be great thank you

Are you getting any codes? Use the FSM and make sure you didn't miss any grounds. Have you done the click test? Did you get your injectors from ebay? I bought an ebay set and two of them were bad.

Hi I got t strange codes first one was code 22 but that isnt listed then another one hard to understand .
what is Fsm and click test? . I had two bad injectors and thought to replace them all they were used but from a engine with only 30 k on it i did a ohm test came out 12 on each one and intall new connectors on them. The engine cranks over well just no firing or anything.

You are probably miss reading the flashes, I would guess its a code 11 and not 22. Check the CAS connector for corrosion and that it is seated properly into the CAS.

Definitely a top tip. Clean your electrical connections. Nissans in general are notorious for bad/corroded electrical connections.

Good idea a car that's 25 years old can have all kinds of connection problems.
But what's weird . I started it up one day after it sat for a while it stumble a lot I checked and found two cylinders not responding when i pulled the coil Pac's off one at a time . Not familiar with what to do did some research changed the spark plugs, it still ran rough so I brought it in to get diagnostic at a local mechanic they said two injectors are bad so lets put 6 in if we pull the intake manifold off and a new wiring harness since the connectors are corroded. They said to do it $2,000. Wow I dont have that kind of money the car has 150k miles on it's worth maybe $3000.
So I drove it home barely making it. It ran just no power, so I proceeded to take it apart video tapping everything what a nightmare it took two days. Then I find the injectors cost $550 for a new set and wiring another $450. Expensive again , What to do I buy injectors use from a engine builder tested of course and connectors off ebay. So I started putting together it took me two days again wow what a job . Now happy I am done I fire it up nothing is happenin but engine is turning over and over, What happen?? Maybe wiring was not connected somewhere I spend a day going over the engine I cant find anything disconnected.
This is a shame I love this car and now it sit's I dont have the big bucks like other people to fix so its on the side of the house with cover on it. In the interest of doing it my self its dead. My story thanks for listening

Sounds like a very familiar story. 8, count them 8 z cars ago, I felt the same frustrations. I finally got so frustrated that I started to do some serious research and learned through the interweb and fsm how to diagnose nearly anything. Okay, allot of basic stuff but the point is, don't give up, one day she will run. You'll pop the tops and go for a cruise and realize exactly why we all put ourselves through this.

Look up the fsm, then look for vacum leaks and check all your grounds and electrical connections. Patience young Jedi. Lol.

Just take your time, it's not brain surgery. Code 22 IIRC is actually a PTU code check all the connections you touched, a little corrosion or moisture in a connector is all it takes to keep everything from working right.

yes it is really nice to have it run again thanks for your help .
But it looks like i have to to pull this plenum off again I dont know how this happen I check every hose connection tighten everything and now I see a coolant leak coming from underneath and car its over heating from the leak.
I looked online for hours trying to find a solution to fixing this leak without pulling the plenum no luck I have to pull it.
And I saw on youtube videos some guys doing a by pass coolant hose system thing, is that ok will the car still run right ok after wards and pass smog, and about the plenum pull how can i get those crazy fuel injectors clips off , the first time i destroyed all the plastic connectors doing so , and I had to replace them with aftermarket's ones ...thanks again

Yes you can bypass the coolant hoses and yes you should still pass emissions, all that does is bring coolant to the TB to raise the temp more quickly. I did it when I had a TT, it makes removal of the plenum a LOT quicker.

Assuming you have old style injectors, you can buy connectors that don't use the wire retainer and have a squeeze release.

I have a non turbo I guess its the same by pass procedure. I did buy some new connectors they weren't stock, they were those blue ones you see on ebay I had to dremel a knock in them and then they worked fine and solder them on, they just looks quite hard to get them off again . Oh well here i go again,
wow I sure can use a break and finally get to doing the body work and painting that part I can do well. take care
