Why has the 240sx thrived as the nissan car to get for drifting? is it because the 300zx is porkier than the 240sx? is there something that the 240sx has that the 300zx doesn't? I'm faced with the decision of either buying a 300zx or going out to buy a 240sx(which was my original plan) but a good friend of mine offered a great deal for his TT 300zx which is in excelent shape/not touched modification wise.

which would be cheaper to get into the 13's? I plan on making a nice street car that can reach into the 13's at the strip and do well at the autocross. Which car has parts more readily available if i need them pronto?

depends... im sure a TT could make it into the 13's EASILY if it doesnt allready...

i think 240s are just lighter from what I understand, If its a good deal on a TT jump on it! they sell for like 15gs still. Id love to have one, I got a 240 since its cheaper. my neighbor has a NA 300 w/ 50k miles for 9g...I wish I could afford it

i believe the 240sx is more desireable due to the weight difference.

if you have the money to afford the insurace on a TT 300zx then go for it but depending on how old you are the insurance might be pretty damn high...

But IF I had the money I would choose the z32

im only 18 so insurance would probably be as high as buying a wrx or lancer or something.

I think i read somewhere that a TT Z32 starts out in the upper 13's for a quarter mile time. Z32s are crazy fast, I test drove one that had been really abused and it was still a blast. Z32 all the way!

Weight, insurance, and engine bay spaceThose are the reasons I chose a S14 over Z32. The Z weighs about 600 lbs more and I couldnt afford to ensure a Z. For a rookie, the inline 4 provides more space to play around. The Z32 is an awesome car! I'd love to have one.

Z32=Great car...I love the Z32 but I'm only 19 and I've been cited with some "traffic violations" in the past so the insurance would kill me. If I could afford a TT I'd buy one. BUt, I love my s13 and it's potential. I guess people like the 240SX because it's light, pretty quick, and kinda affordable.

Z32 is a great car. However it is a heavy beast. Like 3.5k lbs worth. That's a lot of weight to be drifting. I actually have a pic of a Z32 drifting, but it is not easy by any means. However, it is a beast at the strip. Once you take out it's "anti-squat" suspension, that thing will beat domestics silly.

Now go find specs for the Twin Turbo version

The Z has a higher polarity in it's weight distribution, and I personally find the powerband to be very on/off compared to say... an SR or KA-T powered 240. It also has HICAS which can be a pain to work around sometimes, and it also is a PITA to work on with simple things. As for the 13's comment, the Z is by far the easiest to get into the 13s all it takes is a nice day and a good driver.

Both are great cars, but for someone that doesn't have alot of money or time I don't suggest the Z.

ins and maintenence will be ur biggest issues with the z, but for speed, handling, looks, and overall coolness, get the z if u can. they do like 14s stock, but with intake, exhast, and boost jets u can hit mid 13s with a good driver, just dont pay too much and make sure it was taken care of.

It was an easy decision for me, I sold my car for $3000, my 240sx cost $3000, the 300zx TT's I saw were $10000+. That pretty much settled it for me. Plus, I'm better off with a slower car, if I would've bought a 300zx tt instead of a 240sx, i would've totalled and/or killed myself in it. I'm slowly learning to drive better, so I'm slowly getting my car better as well.

i would suggest the z, ive owned one in the past and it was one hell of a daily driver. a quick call to jwt and that thing was a bullet. the reason why i have a 240sx now is because i want a car i can road race and not have to worry too much about repair costs if something were to happen.

Added the Turbo, vert & 2+2.

Just didn't think anyone would look at a 240SX and/or a 300ZX TT .

Also, which would you rather bang up? Drifting will *most likely* lead to some type of damage. Just the name of the game.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say, track width compared to track length...

Kinda like the opposite of the miata.

the 300zx is not a drift car, it snaps around right away, imo ide take the 240sx swaped personally i think it looks nicer, but the 300zx has a nicer interior
