get the (Z32TT) 300zx twin turbo.. by far a better car and a lot more sexy in my opinion. its pretty fast stock but theres a lot you can do to it to get it even faster. true the S14 240SX might be the more pratical way to go... but i look at the Z32 300ZX has more to offer and its got a timeless look to it.. its never going to get old... car is simply beutiful

how much you looking to spend? Sorry I didn't bother to read all the leg humpers responses so I don't know if someone else asked.

Oh and no matter what i'd go with a S14

Or you can go with a S13 if you like oil leaks

I think the 240sx will be a lot easier to work on and learn on than the 300zx.

Don't get the wrong idea about the 240sx. You can make them very fast. I've spent $16k for my 240sx and all the parts. It has moderate suspension upgrades, s13 silvia front end conversion & origin body kit, painted, some engine mods and I'm shooting for around 430whp when I dyno soon. I did everything to the car but the head machining.

EDIT: It was the very first car I worked on btw. All the knowledge is transferable. I've worked on some old corvettes, camaros and trans ams with out being totally confused.

I'm looking to spend about 6-10 (unless I found something awesome) for the car, then I have no idea how much for the mods. Honestly, I will just save each paycheck for my car mods. I have a few friends with 240s that are built extremely quick. I want my car running like 11-12s. Is that out of the question? I have no idea how much that would cost with either vehicle...anyone? I'm just so torn between 240s and 300zx!

Thanks,

Nismogirl3

You can't see out of the ****ing thing. The rear window gives you a tiny slit of viewing area, and there is a thick pillar right behind your head on the left, so you can't really look out that side of the car.
I had the same problem with my old Lambo. Dumped that piece of crap.

Anyway, I'd go with the Z32 since you have the hookup for maintenance. As much as I love my 240SX, a TT 300ZX is a completely different.

IMO, the profile of the Z32 is just classic. The black 300ZX in Kill Bill Volume 1 gets me everytime...

where are you going to find a tt z32 for less than 10k that you wont dump another 10k in just to get it working?

I was looking at 1990-1996 300s online, and they were running between 5-10...is that unrealistic?

I know 300zx are higher in weight, but at the moment, I have my heart set on getting one. The only problem is, is the 240 a faster car because of weight, or can I get a 300zx up and running faster? I don't know much about cars yet, (which I'm sure you can tell) but I'm trying/learning. Any advice?
All right! Anybody who loves 300zx's and has their heart set on one is ok in my book. Welcome to NICO

For speed, performance, and handling....the 300zx is the Nissan you want. The Z car has forever been Nissan's top of the line car, no car has a more storied racing history and lineage than the Z.

Since I was a little kid I have loved the 300ZX. I am a big fan of 240sx's as well, and have worked on and driven a good handful of them (stock, turbo'd, swapped, etc). The 240sx is an awesome car, but it doesnt hold a candle to the 300zx in any way.

Do not settle. You will regret it.

Feel free to e-mail me or hit me up on AIM if you have any Z related questions.

Come on....look at the Z32...how could you not want one?

Oh btw....Hey and welcome to NICO!!! Good luck on your search for a 240 or 300. Keep us updated on the search. Bottom line...it just really comes down to what you want, worry about all the other stuff later

Lol Jerry is just a Z whore . Thats okay because I love them too. Z32 is a hot car, and so is the 240SX. Either way I'd think you'll be extremely happy with either or cause Nissan makes awesome cars.

elwesso wrote:Anyway, tell us what you want to get out of it..... If your looking for a looker with decent performance, a Z32 would be a good place to start... If your looking for a nimble handling machine, the 240 would be the best way because they are so light..... Theres a lot of 240s on this forum that look like crap but could outhandle about anything at your local autoX... LIkewise, there are slower than stock 240s that look great.....

IMO, with a 300ZXtt you start out with a better platform, its a meatier car made for big power and going 200 MPH.. the 240 is not.....

The problem with popular cars like that is its hard to find the good aftermarket stuff, nad your going to have to pay for it... You cant assume that you can get on eGay and anything on there is gonna be good... in fact the opposite is true.

Please tell us what your goals for the car is
I think the 240sx has plenty of looks and performance to boot. I'd take a stock 240sx over a stock N/A 300zx anyday in the twisties. Granted, the Z32 is the true sports car and the 240sx is the sport compact, but for anything involving turns, I'd take the S-chassis anyday. I have two friends with Z32's, one with a TT, the other with an N/A, and the guy with the twin turbo HATES working on his car. Major pita. But it's all about what YOU want. Don't listen to the rest of us. If I was rich, I'd have every sport compact and sport car Nissan ever made. :D

Since I'm not rich, I'm selling my daily and grabbing an R1 FD. Best rwd handling car out of the factory from the rising sun. That'll be the closest thing to super car I'll ever get.

Hmm, this sounds kind'a weird to me.
nismogirl3 wrote:Mainly, I'm just trying to figure out which one will be best for me when I'm looking for speed, but also get whats best for my money.
Hmm, still wanting pure speed...
nismogirl3 wrote:Well, I'm looking for something that I can get good speed out of, best I can find actually, and I'm looking for something with a good handle...I just want a project car that I can make as fast as possible.
So again, still super fast, only now it has to have a handle...That makes it tough

So, no concern with autoX'n or road racing. Just drag strip...Hmm.

Ok, you need a Mustang GT, ported heads, KB supercharger kit, clutch, CAI, headers/exhaust (optional) and suspention work. That'll put you in the upper 10's for the same price as a Z in the lower 12'sOr, F-body with the LS-1, a cam, headers and N2O. You'll be in the 12's easy. 11's if you put on some meats and know how to drive.

If you want "speed" and you want an 11-12s car, buy a domestic with a V8 and do some work to it. That will get you there a lot cheaper since you don't seem to care about turning or stopping.
