300zx tt erratic idle and low boost?

Took my car to have the clutch replaced and had the transmission redone to remove the grind in 4th. Shop had it about a month and it sat..it was not driveable because of the clutch and dont believe he started it during that time. Car was finished today and i went to check it out but he said it was running bad. Went to start it and it was horrible..misfiring stalling exhaust smoke and no boost. After 15 minutes of trying to keep it running it began to run better and better until we deceided on a test drive. Car got to about 4k and just felt like it was struggling. No boost..well like .3 kg/cm2 which is like 4-5psi. Clutch is great and transmission is great but no boost. Turned up manual boost controller and nothing. Shop guy said he turned it a bit when it first started running bad so i thought maybe..def not tho. Car also seems o wanna die after you rev it up to say 5k and then let it drop. Any ideas? Car also has erratic idle that goes up and down constant from say .8k to 1k maybe? All would be appreciated. Cars in shop so tests for me are a little hard at the moment. thanks im new to this forum. _thekids300zx_

im sorry this is off topic but i noticed in my car that grind goin into 4 once an awile how much did it cost to redo the transmission???

Whats weird is it worked fine when i gave it to the shop..it worked fantastically fine. So i dont see the maf being it..it wasnt ran since i gave it to them a month ago or so until i got there and the clutch/transmission was done. Ididnt have much time to look over the car considering they had already been closed for 30 min hehe. Im thinking a vacuum leak but i just need time to find it. Knock sensor i know zero about but again it worked when i dropped it off and it wasnt very driveable with the clutch as it was so i dont see them driving it altho it was possible..that thing was toast..fing 432lb act clutch was slipping under full spool..old owners fault. Oh well 532lb rps should do her hehe. Any and all ideas are appreciated. Ill try finding out whatever i can.

Umm i have rough costs because i havent paid for anything yet considering shes not running like she was when i dropped her off. My total cost is about 1200 not including cost of clutch kit..now that includes installing the clutch taxes & shipping cost of the transmission parts. Mind you clutch replacement labor alone is like 350 but that includes rip & reinstall of the transmission in there so im not sure how that breaks up. Got a bearing & gasket kit as well as the upgraded synchros that came about in 94 from this website just for a cost comparison http://www.drivetrain.com/. Rebuild kit was 148+tax and synchros were 234.60+tax. He told me the transmission work labor was about 350 alone. So added were up to 732.60 no tax no shipping cost. Add that to whatever a rip and reinstall runs and thats prob as close as i can get ya till im billed myself lol. Sidenote tho is if it is a light grind man(or woman) try redline fluid mt-90 transmission gear oil. Thats supposed to do a fantastic job at getting rid of grinds in the zx. I got it in mine even tho i just redid the transmission just in case..makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside lol. Theres another one by redline but the 90 is my choice. Hope that helps.

Hey i have the exact same problem as you my shift bushing were screwed so i put in a short shifter took a month of sitting though and when i got it back it had exactly the same problem as yours but yeah if you have email please write me at [email protected] and please tell me if you ave any diea of what is wrong. thanks, Aaron
