I had trouble finding an affordable transmission for my 1991 D21 V6 5spd King Cab and thought that the 87 300zx turbo would bolt up, but it turns out that the 300zx transmission is 5 inches longer. I could have a shop shorten the driveshaft but wondered if there were other ideas? Not sure if this would cause problems with center bearing on shaft. I will likely also will need to cut the floor to make room for the shifter. Seemed like a excellent idea at the time, but with my truck apart in pieces I need to decide if I should just punt and locate a used D21 transmission.

Compare a pathfinder D/S to the D21 shaft- I have always heard they were a bit shorter. Don't worry about the center support bearing, a one-piece shaft is better anyway.

YEah, Ive heard the trans are longer but again ive heard the internals a about the same. Maybe you can rebuild yours with one from the 300ZX.
