Hi everyone

I recently bought a 91 TT 5spd Z for a steal I couldn't pass up I always wanted this exact car when I first saw it and it was the perfect opportunity. I bought it under the impression that it had a blown head gasket which is still a possobility but would like some insight. I checked the coolant which doesn't seem to be contaminated with oil nor the oil with coolant which to my knowledge just about always happens with a head gasket problem. As well as I found a leak in a hose that I believe goes to the clutch booster which is what's causing the smoke out of the engine bay but not the exhaust it has also been sitting for a year. The car has no problem starting up and the engine sounds good no noticeable misfire. If any one has any idea I would highly appreciate it! Thank you guys so much

I think you want to get a compression test done on each cylinder. That will shed some light on your potential issues. A bit of a tune after sitting a year might be due. New gas in the tank (siphon out the old stuff), new plugs, charge up the battery, check idle and timing, drain, flush and fill all of your fluids, check belts, check hoses, etc. Do the gas, don't fill the tank more than half way, then do the compression test.

I can say there are some drain plugs on the bottoms of the tank. That should make it easier to drain them. But yes to echo what centeralcoaster said. Go to Z1 get the vac tester, which can help you find potential small headaches of vac leaks as well.

I'd suggest getting it in the air, pull the downpipes and check the turbos for play. You could have a blown seal. Keep us posted, and welcome to Z life!!
