Can anyone help me locate either a new shifter(manual trans) for my 84 300ZX or parts to rebuild my original. I've done a search ,but didn't come up with much yet. Thanks in advance. Meanwhile I'll keep looking.

what parts do you need? n/a or turbo? if it's n/a the shifter is interchangable with the 240sx, if it's a turbo it's interchangable wit a camaro or mustang I can't remember which off hand

Thanks Evildky, that helps to narrow it down a little. It's a n/a. 240 shifter should be easy enough. BTW what year 240?

Any year. They're all the same.

Transmission doesn't have a nickname. 71C if you want.

You can usually find OBX short throw shifters for your transmission on ebay for about 25-30 dollars. That's where I got mine and it works wonderfully.

A real OBX is more than $30.

If you shift with a B&M and then with any other shifter, you'll understand why they are worth the money.

The B&M is the best short shifter on the market, bar none. Don't waste your time/money on any knock-off or any other short shifter.

I have to agree, they seem so very simle but there si a huge difference in feel and smoothness of operation, it's wierd but the B&M is a superior product

I have a real OBX and it was 30 bucks. Never used B&M before.

is there such a thing as counterfiet OBX!? isn't OBX some chineese company that reproduces popular products with cheaper materials and sell thm for less, they tend to be less precise and no as long lasting but otherwise decent knockoffs

this is the way I understand it no personal experience, I heard their R200 diffs are good but the shims are garbage, with proper shims their diffs are supposed to be decent

Thanks for all the input. I'm leaning toward the B&M. A little pricy, but if you want quality,I guess thats what it takes.

Looks like it's super nice. If I planned on actually spending a little bit of money on a shifter, I would say it looks to be worth it.
