they are heavy, really heavy for my taste. a maintined twin turbo can sell for 8 thousand. along with the 4ws it takes a lil more effort to hold an angle, the wheels turn and your strait again. (personal experiance)

for 8 thousand you could have a turbod 240 with coilovers and other suspension goodies. plus i dont know how many people have seen under the hood of a z32 turbo lately. but i dont know how the hell nissan got that motor in there.

thats ALOT of weight to transfer, once you get that amount of weight swinging its just gonna keep going around and spin.

the z32 isnt a very agile car, add that to the fact its stupid heavy, incredibly hard to work on, and dosent have near the support for drifting parts like a 240 and you see why nobody does. it CAN drift but why? it would be easier to just buy a 240 and use that.

They also dont have a good weight ratio but I might be wrong.... I drove my friends Z and it felt like it would be a good track car but not a good drifter TOO DAMN HEAVY for me...... 240s are the way to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!

well...

if a 4 door skyline can do it why cant a Z32?

the answer:

it takes alot of money to get the car there...people dont really desire to see a Z32 drifting...so no one does it

i saw a drift chaser at formulaD this weekend... i saw an el camino as well... supras arent light either and they defentally have alot of weight to them... i would have to agree with some of the other posts, weight distribution, limited aftermarket, if it has the hicas type steering shyt... with enough bankroll im sure you could drift anything (like all the work they out in to the Rsr drift s2000), but certain things make it impractical to build one... but on the bright side they do drift 350z s...

You COULD do it...no reason why not.

Just what everyone else said. Why?

The only reason Ueno drifts a heavy-a$$ soarer is because he has millions of dollars and can afford to do it, so why not?

Chasers aren't terribly heavy cars btw, insomuch as I'm aware, the curb weight is less than a Mk IV Supra.

The wheel base on the z32 is too boxed[square]. once you whip , the steering stability is way off and the car,as mentioned above, just keeps goin around.

300zx's can drift, but are not as easy to do so in as a 240sx. Like an 86, the 300zx has a really wide wheelbase for its relatively short length, and like a Supra or Skyline, it's pretty damn heavy. Still, a good driver can get it and keep it sideways.

As far as not having "drift" parts available... COME ON, GUYS! You guys know better than that. If you don't believe me check out SPLparts.com, for starters.

I'd like to see more 300zx's drifting. But then again, I'd like to see more 300zx's, period.

same thing here.

if you could show me a vid of someone drifting a z32 ill change my mind. and I dont mean sliding one corner, i mean s-ing it down a street or holding 3 consecutive drifts. or how bout this one, a circle. no not a donut I mean a 40 foot circle. countersteer and everything
