Hey guys, i've noticed that every 300zx brake conversions i read about usually involves going 5 lug, now i know for sure i could keep my 4 lug pattern by just redrilling the rotors to fit the front, but is it possible to swap rear 300zx brakes onto the rear of an s13 without having to swap to 5 lug ? some ppl told me it is possible but I won't have an e-brake if i do take that route.... i still haven't been able to find a solid answer... someone let me know please

screw that. You don't need to go 5 lug to do the z brake conversion. The assemblies are basically the same just the number of lugs on the hub. just get some z rotors redrilled for 4 lug and call it a day.

well i have z brakes up front, with kvr rotors drilled to 4 lug.. so thats not a problem and i know I can directly bolt on the rear brakes the same as the front if I wanted to, but acording to my research i would not have an e-brake...and to make the e-brake work i'd need the Z32 rear drum assembly and the e-brake cables.

i guess my question is ... could use the z32 rear assembly and somehow stay 4 lug ? any write ups?

I searched and this thread popped up. I need to know this right now. I keep 4 lug and still can have z32 e-brake? Someone clarify this please.

in short... NO, the 4 lug hub and ebrake assembly interfere with each other. I'm not sure the exact details of it but it has been tried and failed. so no you cannot do a 4 lug COMPLETE z brakes.

i'll elaborate for sean.

the 5 lug hub bearing carrier has a spacer on it. The big bolt that's attached to the back of the E brake assy needs that spacer to stay properly vertical. The bearings between the 4 lug and 5 lug hubs have different inner and outer diameters, so you can't swap the bearings around either. And given the shape, making a spacer out of washers won't work. You may be able to have a spacer made in the shape of the one found on the 5 lug carrier, but given its shape, that may be hard to do.

hey bart maybe we can design this part and talk to a few machine shops and see how much it would cost to produce maybe about 100 of these or so. we can discuss it tonight on AIM.

I've been searching and searching and found 4 lug rear z32 brake swap is doable somehow.

These combination should work.S13/14 upright+Z32 hub carrier+S13 4 lug hub + $ for pressing hubs in and out + rotors

Yeah, that'll be awsome. It seems like many 4 people go for the front swap, but they don't do the rear. I really want to have complete swap(f/r)done for my car.

that thread is inconclusive. it only brings you to the definitive swap page and the guy used 5 lug so he doesn't know. he started out w/ 5 lug.

they said the exact same thing bart said above. except they told you that it can be done. Bart has actually tried to do this swap and it cannot be done w/ oem parts. you need some sort of adaptor and hopefully Bart and I can work something out. trust me if there is a way that this can be done, it will be done.

It looks like this is something that I have to wait and see. I've been searching here and there, but there's no obvious solution. Yes, please reserve 2 for me from those 100 spacers you guys are going to make.

Thanks Sean & Bart! I'll keep this on my upgrade list then.

madcowvert and brokeas240sx claim that it can be done and not hard. I'm confused.

zerothread/201187

Anyway, I'll definitely keep this in my to do list. Thanks for input, help and opinions.

madcow has swapped to 5 lug. He stated that a few times in his posts. I asked broke to explain how he did it, because I find it fishy that he did it with 4 lug hubs.
