300zx no power URGENT!!!!

Hey i was driving my 300ZX TT and it ran perfect until the car back fired with a puff of black smoke and then all the power went out! i only get power to my headlights and to my horn.... the battery is fine and the ALT is brand new. Any ideas? it wouldnt pop start either... Oh and only the Highbeams work.

Check ECU for codes.

So it just spins over with the starter but will not run?

I had the problem once where only the highbeams worked but the car still ran. It turned out to be a fuse in my case. Could be a fuse or two in your case as well. I don't remember which one it was though.

New Alt huh, check that fuse first, you may have a mis-routed hot wire going to ground after rubbing on a bracket or the block.
