hey guys, i am the current owner of a wrecked, probably totaled 240sx. (i got rear ended, wasnt my fault) i am looking for a new car and cant decide between a new 240 or a 300z. right now i am looking at a 1990 300z with 152k miles. they want 4000$$. is that a reasonable price? and is there anything i should look for if i go look at it? what years are the z31 and z32? if someone can tell me anyhting important about these cars or just anythign you think i shoudl know , please tell me. i dont really know very much about them. thanx

well a 1990 it is most likely a z32 the z31 like the one i have are in around 83-somewhere in early 1990 but i would say that i would not personally buy are car with a 152k miles on it for 4000 i could not justify it...

z31 is from 1984-1989 and the z32 is from 1990-1996. that is quite a bit of miles, i would look for other z cars.

I was originally looking at the s14's, but I ended up buying a z32 (96). I'm happy with my decision, but remember that the z32's will be more expensive to maintain in the long run, just prepare yourself for that aspect of it.

ya, i saw that some maintnance, like the timing chain i think it was, cost about 1300$$? i dont rememmber, but it was expensive. is there as much aftermarket stuff and that can do to a 300z that you can do to a 240? like motor swaps, exhaust, suspension , body kits and other stuff like that? i am still thinking about the choice..but i am having a ***** of a time trying to get the insurence company of the guy that hit me to settle me..... getting a lawer tomorow...

hey man ive had 2 z31's, one was an 84 pos non turbo, but it was my first car, and it was good for that.

my second was a 1988 shiro special (1 of about 1k), and i loved that car to death. it was like 1 of 4 in atlanta, for what i knew. i totalled it on xmas eve.

if your gonna get a z32, check out http://www.300zx.com (z1 motorsports)...if you get a z31 check out http://www.z31.com probably the best info on the web for those cars.

heres a pic of my shiro special:

upgrading a 300zx is more expensive than most cars. and you have to know a lot about the vg to work on it. 240sx is a great car to upgrade, but it is so slow stock.

what did you do james?

that sucks, what did you do to the front end? ya, 240 are pretty slow stock, but around ft. oglethorpe (just south of chattanooga TN.) i can beat most of the riced up hondas, lol.
