Hi, I am new to the Z car game and this is my first z car. i have a 91 300zx na and im wanting to convert it into a twin turbo and was wondering how i should go about doing it. i found some decent deals on jdm engines and transmissions for the VG30DETT and was wondering if that should be my first step, to purchase that engine and trans and drop it in and go from there. any kind of advice and info would be much appreciated. thank you all

Welcome to Nico!
I will try to save you some abuse by suggesting you look around the site some and read any posts you see regarding the TT and NA's, and try the extra-cool, flashing "search" button JUUUuuuuust to the upper right at all times with that query for a great start.
You can also check out the stickies above the threads specifically the one regarding "everything you need to know about your Z", and VIOLA- you will quite probably find everything and more that you need to know!
Or, the true answer that the TT swap is far from simple and that question easily the most-beaten dog in our pack.
Have fun! :bigthumb:

And I will reiterate what DCaff said. If you haven't found all your answers by searching then you have not searched enough sir. No one is going to sit there and list all of the problem areas and requirements to do the swap because it has been covered that many times. Have a look in the everything you need to know sticky and search for z1's tt swap document as well as ttzd swap guide.

My best Free Fish is buy a front cut (has all of the bits and pieces you need, and is a where/how to guide), study the swap info threads A LOT, and be prepared to be frustrated and need to ask a TON of questions about little things.
There is a realistic reason for the stock answer of "just buy a TT", and it's the difficulty of the swap- easily a 9 out of 10 in difficulty and expense for a novice, and which after all trouble and expense then "only" nets a 300HP stock vehicle.
