Hello everyone i just recently purchased a Nissan 300ZX N/a (the 2+2)

i was wondering if there were turbocharger kits available for the N/A because i really do not feel like dishing out a mass amount of cash for an engine swap if i can spend cash and get a turbo.

I want a car that would be moderate in the 13 second range, my supra currently runs 12.3 and my friends evolution is 13 flat (having problems right now ) but i want the ZX to be able to keep up to the evolution. thank you

joe

to "bolt" on a turbocharger on a n/a z32 would be very costly and take a very long time. it is just easier to buy a tt in the first place.

he is right. Sell the Z you have now and pick up a tt for a little more then what you paid for yours rather then dump almost double that into the one you have.

I agree.^^^ I wish people would ask this question before they purchased an N/A Z. That way it'll save them the truble of having to buy another Z.

It's not that hard if you do the work your self, but it takes time and $$ but not as much as they say im in the middle of doing it to my 90 2+2.

It's not the parts cost that kills you it's paying for the labor. If you don't mind giving up your spare time and working your tail off it's not bad at all. Esp. when im done and have a completely new Z TT inside and out, tho if the head gasket didn't go out i wouldn't be doing it, that and i needed my 60k service so whats a few grand more?

Atleast my 240sx is easy to keep ont he road or id be in trouble.

So what turbo manifold are you using and what is the most difficult part of adding a turbo to your N/A 300zx???

Im not looking at going for big power as of yet im just going to use the stock manifolds and turbos for the time being.

The hardest part is the routing of the piping, since i've removed the AC im not in that bad of shape but i still need a TT rad. to make it all work.

Unless your question is adding TT to the high compression VG30DE then im not too sure, hell id try it and just run like 5psi and see what happens(not saying you should). But id be prepared to stick a new motor in when it detonates to peices.

4hrs to pull the engine and transmission 5 hours of cussing to put the new parts on. 4hrs to put it all back in the car.

Weeks for a new motor to arrive and 8 hours to get it back to stock.

ok, i am not one to try to Turbo an N/A car. i am an EX-DSMer and everyone in thier little 1.8s wanted to be turbo, just buy a Turbo car to start with, they were designed to handle a turbo, not all engines are designed to.

no for my Question. is it worth buying an n/a and doing an engine swap? my bro is a 240 guy and thats how i heard of this forum, i am looking into a 300ZXTT but theres none around for me to buy. is it as easty as say swapping in a 240. i wouldnt assume so, becasue well i've seen 300zx engine bays. Or is it best to just wait for one to come around.

i've looked at some of you guys' cars, hott **** i want one badddly. :bowdown

First of all, which member is your brother? Second, It can be cheaper and it can also be more expensive, but most likely a bit more expensive. The only way for it to be cheaper is if you source your parts REALLY good. Id only suggest doing the swap if 1) There are no good TT's within xxx miles of your area that you're willing to drive, 2) You can get the parts at a decent price and 3) You either have another car to drive in the mean time or can afford the down time on the Z. I hope that helped. I have no personal Z experience, but I want one badly. Earlier this year I was plannin on getting one, but I changed my mind.

PS getting the NA->TT done at a shop can cost you a lot of $$$.

Yes it will. Did you hear about what Mitsubishi is going to do (if they havent already) about the Evo's drivetrain warranty?

Oh and they run 15s, but you could get them into the 13s. That would cost some $$$ though.
