Will a NA 300zx pass smog if you do a muffler delete? I know that there won't be performance gains, but I'm itching to hear the car until I can afford a Specialty Z exhaust.

As far as I know, the mufflers don't do anything in the smog department. It will effect your sound which I suppose they could get you for depending on their mood and how loud it is.

That's what I thought. I just wanted to make sure. Thanks for your help.

Also dont forget the sound limit. Decibals or something like that. A d!ck cop will write you a ticket for that. My buddy had that happen with his challenger.

Should I bend new piping back from the resonators or just saw off the mufflers and weld a 2.5 inch tip on the end? Any other ideas other than that?

It has a replacement exhaust already on it but its not a performance exhaust. I just want to have something to listen to until I can afford a specialty Z exhaust. It's just too quiet and I'm itching to hear it.

^^This is a much better idea if you just want to hear it. I still think it's a terrible idea regardless.

lol Ace.

OP just go to a muffler/exhaust shop and have them make you something custom for a couple hundred bucks.

I ran without mufflers for about 2 hours. I couldn't stand it much longer than that. My .02 is don't do it, but if you wanna.. have at it.
