i have a couple of questions. first off i know that the rear differential from a z31 can bolt onto an s13 chassis. what i dont know about is if theres any big difference and is tha dif an open or limited???? my other question (i didnt find nothing on this one) is the car is a 1985 non turbo 300zx with tha vg30e in it. what would i have to do to put that motor and transmission in an s13 chassis??? one more question ( i havent searched for this yet but i will as soon as i finish this) what is tah bolt pattern for the 300zx rims??? (its tha alloy with the "z" in tha middle) thx

I know the engine swap just isn't worth it. You would need custom mounts, all custom wiring, PS and AC wouldn't work, no idea how the gauge cluster would work. Unless you have mucho fab skills, $$, and lots of down time, and you are just doing it for giggles, it's not worth it. Z31 diffs can be either open or limited (LSD). An orange sticker on the side of the pumpkin will note this. Not sure on the bolt patter, I think they are 4-lug, but I'm not sure.......

Z311984 Turbo has 4 bolt hubs and limited slip, also, the turbos have stronger CV joints. No oil supply for turbocharger, stronger 5 speed

1985-upTurbo has 5 bolt hubs, gained oil supply for turbocharger, also have limited slip and stronger CV joints, stronger 5 speed

All N/A have a weaker transmission, open diff, 4 bolt hubs thru 86, 87 and after gains 5HP for a total of 165.

Waste of time, I had 2 Z31's, big piles of junk.

Agreed, I have 14 Z31s in the local yard I deal from. 14. Wouldn't even consider touching one.

Actually, it should just bolt right into your car. It would not be alot of work, the VG30 motor was used in the nissan truck along with the KA, and the VG30 was also used in the 200SX from 87-88 in place of a 4 banger (CA20?), so I would guess all that will fit in your car. If you had the Z31, you would be able to swap the harness fairly easy. PS and AC would take a little work to get figured out. Shouldn't be too bad. Of course, the VG30E is not what you would consider a performance motor, and it would barely give you more performance than a KA24DE with minor bolt-ons.

Actually all turbo models were 5 bolt hubs...

You would need a 240sx crossmember with a VG motor mount to make it bolt right in. it's alot more difficult than you think.

Yeah, definetly uses a different rear cover. And if these are the same people that say putting that motor in would be anything short of an act of God, I'd stop listening to them.
