I have a 95 nissan 2+2 NA and the motor seized, I recently bought a jdm twin turbo engine on ebay and due to budget limits, i had to take off turbos and run a twin turbo motor NA for now until i get money for the piping and radiator and whatnot, but what can be causing the low oil pressure on the engine? It also has like a lifter tick, and it is pretty loud. The oil pan is a bit damaged by the way. Any help will be appreciated!

The low oil pressure could be form the oil pan dented(like you said) and the dents pushing against the pick up tube. The smallest dents cause some of the worst headaches. One of the things you should do is change the pan and oil pump. If anything to try, put thicker oil in it and I know someone on here use Z1 engine cleaner with great success. That may be all it needs.

When it comes to running a TT without turbos, it can be done, its just going to be SLOW, I mean geo metro slow only hitting on two of the three cylinders. Doing the swap is expensive especially if you didn't get the front clip. i am in the process of it now and it sucks, especially sourcing out the parts.

There has been a thread about JDM engines and the horror stories, try and find that and give a good read. You will be mad at yourself for getting the engine. Good luck man.

Well i needed the engine anyway, Ive just been wanting a TT since i bought my NA 2+2. It used to be auto, i made it manual, and then my NA engine spun a bearing and started having low end knock. It really isnt that slow but an original NA would definitely spank me. I was going to get a front clip but i couldnt find one so i decided to run a TT engine non turbo for now due to lack of transportation. Its still good, gets me from point a to point b ;)

Running a TT engine without turbos won't be any problem (ie. not slow like a geo) as long as you are using the NA exhaust manifolds and not trying to push exhaust through the turbos not spinning. I think that's what you were thinking of nissanfreak.

Get a new oil pan ASAP, or bang the dents out if budget is limited. I wouldn't suggest running a thicker oil, that will coverup problems and can make things worse. The stock oil pressure sender unit is also bad for getting clogged and showing zero oil psi at idle. Get a new one if funds allow, or an aftermarket one.

The lifters ticking can be from lack of oil pressure or there is gunky buildup of oil in them. You can do a hot oil flush or the Z1 engine cleaner as nissanfreak stated to try and fix. They really need to be taken apart and cleaned.

Yeah i put on the exhaust manifolds from my na and the oil filter sending unit, that may be part of the problem. Im going to replace the oil pan, oil pump and im going to flush the engine with that xtreme engine flush from z1 and put on the sending unit that it had and hopefully it works just fine.

Replaced oil pump, oil pan, and oil sendi.g unit all at once. Lifter tick is gone and my pressure is at 80. Thank you guys!
