Hey guys I'm new here and I'm looking to see if i can find any help with me 1991 300ZX TT. Its having a strange loss of power. The car is completely stock no mods. It cranks and runs fine and while driving it runs fine as long as I don't get into the throttle too much it will cruise fine. But once it starts to boost up it starts lagging bad. At an Idle my boost gauge reads around -12 and while driving it WILL boost up to around 9psi. But if i go over 0 on the boost gauge it just doesn't want to accelerate anymore. Could it be just a boost leak somewhere? Anyone ever have any similar issue? Any advice would be much appreciated!

There's a link about boost leaks in the "everything you need to know about the z32" thread in the general forum.

One of our mods, ffrpwner apparently had an issue with boost leaks...try pm'ing him I'm sure he'd be glad to help.

Wish I could help more, but my knowledge is very limited on forced induction!

My car started doing the same thing yesterday. It idles and runs fine until the rpm's go above 2500 then the engine starts to buck with lose of power. Anybody know what this is mabey a bad turbo?

Do the basic troubleshooting steps: Check ignition timing, check fuel pressure, check for boost/vacuum leaks, check for ECU codes

A bucking sensation can be the TPS having dead spots. Check TPS output with a multimeter for a smooth increase in OHMs or Voltage. Check ECU codes and all of the other things I suggested to OP. Worst thing is to jump to conclusions like having a bad turbo!

If the ignition timing is out of adjustment this could result as well...mine was at 11 when I got my car and it shook like crazy at certain rpms til I turned it to 15.

So i drove the car yesterday and it wasnt doing it anymore. Guess i lucked out mabey debris in the fuel lines or something. I did do a bg44 treatment a few weeks ago.
