Ive tried searching, but could not find anything relevent enough to help me. I know the 91 Turbo, 92, and 93 300's have 30mm Aluminum calipers and 94+ is 30mm Iron. Is one better than the other. I would assume the aluminums are lighter for less unsprung weight, but are the iron ones more rigid? I was wondering if Nissan made a working change due to the iron being more rigid or if they just did it for no reason.

Also I bought Brembo Cross-drilled and Slotted rotors. Are the slots supposed to trail or cut in to the caliper? They are marked L and R, would R be passenger side and L be driver (RHD and LHD)? I was looking trough a HyperRev Magazine and it seems most slotted ones are "cutting in to" the caliper, I always thought they should trail into the calpiper (bottom of the slot in to the caliper and top of the slot last).

Picture of a rotor would this be a passenger side or drivers side? This is not my rotor but if it was it would be marked R (mine are also drilled).

the aluminum calipers ran from '90-92.5, after that they were iron.

it has been said that nissan switched to the iron because they were having problems with warping rotors. the iron calipers can absorb more heat which should lessen the problem.

with a much lighter car like the 240 it isn't a problem so most people use the aluminum calipers to take advantage of the lighter weight.

the rigidity might be higher with the iron, but they are so stiff anyway it doesn't matter. i have full z32 calipers, stainless steel lines and a z32 MC and the pedal is really stiff, just the way it should be. the thing barely moves once you get past the initial slop.

i think that's a driver's side rotor, but it doesn't really matter.
