Combined with the larger brakes, the whole unsprung assembly comes out only 2 lbs heavier than stock despite a massive increase in braking power and heat capacity. Ok well I just got my rear 300ZX hub assembly and noticed that the aluminum hub assembly was basically the same as the stock steel one currently on my S14.

I don't know if it is right to call it a hub assembly, I am talking about the piece that connects all the suspension links. It is steel on 240s but aluminum on 300zx's. SCC said you can save 7 lbs on each side with the aluminum.

The difference is the shock mount. It is a bit different. My plan is to switch to coilovers this summer and I was wondering if I need to order 300ZX coilovers for the rear or what do I do. SCC said they ordered some custom setup or something. Is it the same for the S14 as the S13?

Thanks

The S13 and S14 upper shock mounting points are different - the s14 is much higher up, and so the shock body is much longer.

I don't know whether the 300Z's is close in height to the S13 or S14 - but I do know that with many of the coilover setups (like Zeal and JIC), that you can order a different bottom mount for the shock. That is, order a S14 shock, and a Z32 mount (the mounts on these coilovers are threaded on, so swapping is just unscrewing the old and screwing on the new).
