Hey everyone, I'm currently pulling my JDM engine out of my Z because it turns out it needs a rebuild. * Shame on me, I know * Anyway, I have everything unbolted, but whenever I lift the engine/trans out, it's not budging, it's actually lifting the whole car! Before then my friend chase showed me how to do it, but this time I want to do it on my own to prove to him and his friend jerry that I can be just as good as them someday. I've looked underneath my car and I believe my engine mount studs are stuck on the cross member or whatever its called. So I lowered it and the engine went with it. What's the next step?

bolt the motor mounts back up, pull the trans down, then pull the engine out. Way easier than pulling them together.

Agreed! If you pull them together it is possible but you will end up spilling trans fluid out of the tailshaft input even if you drained it. Dropping the trans out first makes the whole job much easier. If you pull them together you need to unbolt the front crossmember and drop it down enough to clear the steering rack. If you do that you will need to get an alignment afterwards.

I've done it both ways and pulling trans first is the easier way, especially if you already have the exhaust and driveshaft removed.
