hi
i am not sure if i posted in the correct section, but I have 91 300zx with a dirty egr ( cant pass smog) and was quoted about $900 for repair, I was wondering If i Do the EGR delete kit will it pass in CA ( i search most people who comment on egr delete kits do not live in CA, and less strict with car smog problem). I was wondering if anyone has done this in CA?

How do they go about testing for emissions in CA? Like how do they know the EGR isn't working?

when you do an egr delete your car has a higher emission result causing it to fail in California.

Yeah but the EGR valve only operates under certain conditions, that's why I asked exactly how they test in CA.

If they just let the car idle, then they'll never know. If they run it at 2-3k for a minute, then they will know.

They hook your car up to a dyno and run it to 45mph for 5 mins. All the while sniffing the exhaust.
