got home from ork and decided to drive around the block in my z i drove about two blocks and the steering wheel got really stiff thats when i noticed the car turned of turned it back on drove back about a block turned of again turned it back on and drove another block home.when i got home i turned it off and checked for codes even though the check engine light wasent on i got these

13*: engine coolant temp. sensor circuit
14*: vehicle speed sensor circuit
35*: exhaust gas temp. sensor circuit

i thunk i got code 13 because the wire to the coolant temp sensor doesnt have the clip to keep it in place.
I dont know were code 14-speed sensor is locared?
Is code 35 -exhaust gas temp sensor the sensor on the egr?thank you

The coolant temp sensor is most likely the culprit in this situation. The connector clip can be bought from Nissan. Either that, or you could get creative with a zip tie or two.

Not sure where the EGT probe is on the Z32, though on most cars it is on the exhaust manifold.

The VSS is on the trans, close to the Driveshaft output, IIRC.

Hm, maybe someone else knows. I just spent about 20 minutes in the FSM EF/EC section, and the EGT isn't listed in there. Is it contained within the O2 sensor on these cars? Not entirely sure on this. Someone else have the answer?

Do you have a cone intake, by chance? Also, when did it "turn off?" Braking, accelerating, clutch in, ect?

i think the coolant temp sensor is causing it to turn off ..i changed the VSS sensor today and it shut off again. this time i noticed the check engine light came on before it turned off..got home checked ecu codes and only got code 13.im going to get a new connector seeif that fixes the problem.

It could be the sensor that's threaded into the driver's side EGR tube rear mounting flange.

The good news it that it comes out along with the EGR tube, and a VERY long soaking with/in penetrating oil might aid in getting things out and apart. I'd check the wiring and connectors first.

Suppose the code could also mean that exhaust gas temperatures are HIGH, which would probably result from the EGR valve opening, releasing exhaust gases into clogged EGR tubes. Carbon builds up inside their entire length and where they connect to the undersides of the plenum.

I'm 85% sure the coolant temp sensor is your problem. Get that fixed and report back.
