I own a canadian 90 2+0 na and the previous owner said to me that the drl were not working and I want them to work. My problem is, I dont even know wich is the light that is suposed to be on :chuckle: I have read somewere that is was my low beam light that was supposed to be on but at a lower voltage... Is that true ? If it is, changing the bulb could fix my problem ? Or maybe an electrical problem .. Sorry for my english, not my first language
Thanks

Canadian Z's use the hi beam lamps as DRL at lower voltage.

^this. I hate DRLs and disable them on any car I own. Most likely if your high beams work and your DRL's don't, the "problem" is either a fuse OR CA spec Z's have a control module that tells the DRL's to turn on once the engine RPM's reach a certain threshold.

Canadian Z32's DTRL are powered via the high beams at half the wattage. They turn on when the engine is started and once the e-brake is released they stay on until you turn the engine off. You either have a bad relay, DTRL control module or you might want to check your e-brake switch.

Yes, if the light comes on and turns off when it's supposed to, it is working. Does your tach work?

Then it's either a relay or the module. Or wiring.

I would assume so, as mine doesn't have that relay.

The relay and control module location. I don't know if that's inside the engine compartment or behind the fender. Report back as I'd like to know.

The DRL relays are located inside the fenders:). You might be able to access them if you pull the wheel well liners out.

Yes, the plastic panel at the rear of the well needs to come out, and if I recall correctly you need to remove the front to get to the rear.
After removing the screws and bolts in the front panel, go under the hood and push the little pin for the two non-screw/bolt front fasteners out, otherwise you break them if done from the wheel well. You'll know the ones I mean when you get there.

Had the drl module checked out at an electronic shop near my house, the guys says it was fine so I ended jumping the relay to have both low beam and high beam turned on when i turn my light on,, then I realise my daylight where working, so I put back the relay I have jumped and everything was working like it suppose to.
I guess that I was having a loose connection and taking the drl out and putting it back in place fixed my problem ! pretty happy because I didnt spend a peney on fixing my problem,

Most likely a bit of corrosion that got knocked off when you removed and reinstalled. Glad to hear you got it working :dblthumb:

Daytime running light.
Hi, I have a 1992 300ZX Twin Turbo, and I'm still having problems with my daytime running light on the passenger side. For almost 2 years, it barely worked at all. When it did work, when I started the car, it would go on, then about 30 seconds later would go off and stay off. This year I decided to try and solve this issue, so I asked my mechanic to change the DRL module to see if that helped. My light started working much more frequently, but would still go off at times. I noticed that if I turned my headlights on & then off, most of the time the DRL would fail to go on. I am very frustrated, but if 1 day I want to sell the car for top dollar, I need this to work to pass a safety as theres little else wrong with the car. Could anyone tell me what else I could look for? Could it be something to do with my headlight on/off switch? Also, does anyone know how the DRL module connects to the high beam light bulb to cut the wattage in half? Is it a wiring harness I could replace? Please help me solve this very frustrating problem...
Thanks,
Mark

Have you tried to replace the relay inside the passenger wheel well?
