All calipers from 1991 on were 30mm. All from 1993 up are aluminum. If that helps.

Close, 91 on were 30 mm but 90-92 were aluminum. 93+are steel.

I am looking into replacing the brakes and suspension... the caliper on the pass. front is wearing the brake pad unevenly so I assume the piston is getting stuck, and the caliper needs to be replaced/rebuilt... The pads and rotors need to be replaced as well as the tension rods, so I figured I'd dedicate an entire project to getting the brakes and suspension up to par... but I am trying to steer away from an aftermarket suspension... I was looking into an Apex, but the ride is bumpy as it is... I'm going for a smoother more stock feel... the only problem is that its a effin convertible.. and most shops only have the option of TT or N/A parts... now I assume that nissan equipped the convertible with TT brakes and suspension parts to compensate for the added weight, but no one at the dealership can verify that.. so I turn to you Nico... I got on here A LOT when I had the 240 droptop... its good to be back... any input would be most appreciated!! Thanks...

The brakes are the same for the NA or TT so no concerns there, just replace or rebuild the caliper and put on a quality set of pads such as Hawk HPS'. You will also want to flush the brake fluid, upgrading to braided stainless brake lines is a nice touch as well.

As for the tension rods, just replace the stock bushings with the urethane version made by Energy Suspension.

For a ride close to stock and possibly able to adjust slightly softer than stock, I would recommend the KYB AGX shocks with Eibach Prokit springs. This will lower the car .8", it will also require front camber adjustment. 300Degree makes a kit which works perfectly for this combination. The 'verts do not have a special spring rate available in anything aftermarket, the NA springs will work fine with it, if you want slightly stiffer spring rates, the TT springs will work as well.

Hope this helps,Tim

Absolutely.... Thanx... I just looked up the prices, and they're more than reasonable.. And they're adjustable... you really cant see it by the picture below, but my car is stupidly low to the ground as it is.. (my ex once got stuck on a speedbump at Denny's... it was funny) anyway, Its definatelly time for a new suspension upgrade, now as for the BRAKES!!! Ugh... I've been going insane looking for cross drilled AND slotted rotors... I don't trust ebay with something that crucial to the car... (god knows people prolly buy autozone rotors, and drill holes in them, then sell them for profit...) Any ideas where I can get a hold of some good rotors and the Hawk HPS pads!? Also... FYI Im sure you've all heard of "Courtesyparts.com" They have a pair of adjustable tension rods that look like they'll never corrode.. (the bushing is completely covered in metal) for $150..!!! Its cool because they are out in Dallas, so upon ordering them ground, they'll arrive next day... PS... Tim.. dude, your Z is awesome... what else do you have done to it!? The guy who had mine before me blew the motor, and put some junkyard motor in it (which was installed by some shady tree mechanic) i found an importer who has several front clips for roughly $3500 the 3 that I saw at his location had maybe 65k kilometers... so 40k miles isn't bad... but for now, im pimpin it with my 1 upgrade... oh yeah... fear my Z... its loaded with 1, I repeat... 1 nismo radiator cap... lol hit me up fellas....

The tension rods from courtesy are good and IMO better than stock with new es bushings. As for the brakes, make sure you get a quality rotor, I wouldn't trust ebay either. I have brembo drilled and slotted rotors on mine. They weren't that expensive.
