So I've got the 300ZX brakes on my car with the fat rotors, a 300ZX master cylinder, new lines, and stock 240 rear brakes. And when I hit the brake pedal as hard as I possibly can, not a lot happens. It stops, but it's the kind of thing where if I got cut off, I would be dead.

The car has a cammed V8 in it, so it makes no vacuum (12in/hg idle), but at decel you should be seeing almost 20in/hg anyway, so I don't feel that is the issue. I have a brand new brake booster, brand new brake booster check valve, etc. I've pretty much thrown parts at this thing hoping to solve the problem because I can't figure it out.

I'm almost ready to go and buy stock brakes.

Any ideas?

Bleeder valves on top and did you bleed properly?

Yes, bleeder valves are on top. I am quite confident in the bleeding, I was going to try again anyway. Let's just assume it doesn't help for now.

The first time I installed the brakes I did them backwards like that, and it was like the pedal was hitting a wall. Was weird.

I believe so. Which way should it be oriented? I bought a new one from the dealer a month or so ago.

There should be an arrow on the check valve telling you the orientation

I've got the E-> pointed at the engine, just making sure E doesn't stand for something ridiculous in Japan to be pointed the other way.

I'm going to order a vacuum canister. Most people I have talked to seem to believe it's a vacuum issue, but it's just something I have no experience or training with at all, so it's a bit of guess work on my part.

Moderator outtiwinpahc has the vac canister in his v8 hb. It's probably necessary. So contact him.
