So, after many weeks of waiting for all the parts (and money), I finally got the damn job done. First off, let me tell you, 300zx wheels are light as **** =) The Yokohama AVS ES100 tires are heavier than the wheels. So the brakes went on smoothly for the most part. The front install didn't give me any trouble. Trimming the dust shield was the hardest part, and that was pretty damn easy. The rear hubs were a hassle to get off and on. As for the wheels and tires, that's a different story. Went to put the front wheels on, and bam, side wall rubs on the strut. I think this is mostly due to the fact that the tires have fat sidewall. It sticks out way more than it needs to in my opinion. Great... so I had to go buy some ghetto wheel spacers (washers) at Menards for a temporary fix until the real wheel spacers arrive. I bled the entire brake system with new fluid (313 degree wet boiling point).

Going from 205/60/15 (wrong series I know, they came with the car) to 225/50/16 was quite a difference. Braking is superb. No fade yet, and the pedal feels great. Here are some pics that I took of the finished product. Yes, I know it needs to be lowered :rolleyes

nice:thumbup

the reason the tiures rub is the offset of the twin turbo Z was higher than than the 240sx, as I understand it, and yes the AVS es100 has a odd sidewall in 50 series tires, but its a NICE tire...you'll like them a lot.-chet

That looks really damn good. I like 300zx rims on 240s.

I miss the 225s I had on my Probe. The 205s on the 240 just feel so damn skinny.

So you do have to have spacers to fit 225s without rubbing?

Exar-Kun: So far I like the tires, haven't had much time to test them. The 240 wheels are +40 offset, where the 300zx wheels are a +45, so a 10mm spacer I think would work fine. I was pissed as hell about the sidewall though =)

stickgoat: It depends on the tire. I think Kumhos would have been fine, because they have a much squarer (is that even a word?) side wall. Definetely a difference looking at the back and seeing some kinda meaty 225's rather than 205's though =)

AunVoh: Damn you and your woot'ing ...I ought to shoot you for putting that in my post.

Survey says...no. If that is correct syntax, it still sounds funny.

I think it would be "more square"??

Looks good man...you need to lower your car though...just bustin your chops. You have the exact same car as me, so its nice to see what the wheels will look like.

Thats my next mod too...post about the spacers when you throw them on. Where did you get the hubs from....cause by me there will be NO junkyards with SEs in them...

I didn't know that the Z's wheels are light...I always thought they were heavy....I wonder if the guy I am selling the Z to will miss the brakes? hmmm...

APEXi240: I just went to http://www.car-part.com and looked up the hubs and found them somewhere in Arizona or something...don't remember exactly where. There were quite a few other places that had them as well. Make sure you check all the bearings when you get the hubs though, if you get one that's grainy it's better not to use it. The front hubs are easy to swap, rears take a little more time and patience.

jemil118: I was surprised as well when I found out that the Z32 wheels are only 16 lbs a piece. That's right there with RX-7 wheels, and they are probably stronger if not just as strong. Plus they are directional which makes them that much cooler.

I changed my brakes from original to the 4-cals from an 300zx.It was a piece of cake and it only took me some work to drill some new holes (3 per disc) to fit to the original 4-bolt pattern.

Man what bite the brakes have now.

hey where did you buy the set up from, junkyard? if so how much you got it for so I can get a ballpark figure how much is reasonable to buy them for. it looks nice, did it take you long to install this?...and also did you do any customizing or it's just direct bolt on, I really want it for my s13 also...but it's a ***** looking for a junkyard that have what I need.

Also if you can do me a favor reply back to me everything you bought to finish the set up, i.e what model/year the brakes/wheels came off of. don't 4get to list the price if u still remember.

Hey, please read my other post on wheel choice!

I have a ttz that I can use parts from, but the wheels aren't in perfect condition, and I think ultimately typhoons would look better.

If I am thinking about using z wheels for drags on the rear, should I just use the fronts (same size as na wheels) or will the rears fit?

If the tt rears won't fit no matter what I can atleast sell those.
