hey, first off, i wana say thanks for clicking my post. i really need your guy's help. in a nut shell.. i did a z32 brake upgrade on my s13. im having problems when i have the rotor on and when the caliper bolts are being tighten ( 2 bolts that hold the caliper to the uprights), the rotor cannot spin freely, its stuck. if i loosen the two bolts back about 3 threads i can spin the rotor but its hard. i pushed the pistons all the way in. i dont know what im doing wrong. i did a ton or searching as well.

to get specific, i got 26mm calipers, z32 rotors ( redrilled to 4x114.4), i cut the splash shield and bent it back so it clears the rotor. i got the conversions stainless steel lines as well. all i dont have is a larger bmc, i have a bm57 comming in the mail. but thats not the problem.

i guess u used the z32 bolts that hold the caliper to the uprights i heard they are too long and u should use the stock ones

I'm currently doing the Z32 upgrade on my S13 as well. Did some mock up the other day when installing my Ichiba 5-Lug hubs. I have the 30mm calipers and used the 30mm rotor off my Z, just put new pads and rotors on the Z. Anyways it appeared to me that the caliper needs to be spaced toward the outside of the car for the rotor to clear the caliper and also be centered. This was without any pads installed in the caliper and pistons fully retracted, just completed rebuild. Take a washer and place it between the backside of caliper mounting hole and front spindle. I think that will do the trick, you might have to find one the right thickness. Unless P_856 is right and the bolts are too long. Let me know what u find out. Heres mine mocked up with a NA Z31 dust shield drilled and tapped into spindle.

Be certain that the rotors match the calipers. The 30mm rotors need replacing @ 28mm of wear and the 26mm rotors need replacing @24mm of wear. All that means is that even after the 30"s have worn down to their absolute limit they will still bind on the 26mm calipers. Moral of this story? Measure the width of your rotors.

As for the bolts, the difference in length is negligible being literally one threads worth of difference. I have used both sets of bolts and never had any issues. This is a straight bolt-on affair. Any shimming or spacing indicates a problem with the hardware either in the chassis side or the caliper side.

yeah the z32 bolts are longer, i used the stock ones. also xiaphin, i used washers, it works. everything is good now. braking sucks a** cause i dont got a bigger bmc but thats soon to change. over all its good. im using my stock se rims as well.

& gumby74 yeah, i think my rotors or different than my calipers. i guess ill just have to keep my eye on my rotors for wear.

Nice to know that the washers work but you need to make sure they are as flat as possible. Otherwise you could get uneven pad wear. I'm going to get some flat ground washers to hopefully achieve even pad wear. Nice that your SE stockers fit cause the Z32 stockers need a spacer, a tiny one but still a spacer

yeah, its a flat washer, im not getting the ~100% experiance cause i dont got a bigger bmc, i just ordered a 1 inch bmc ill see how it goes after i install it. but i grinded down the nissan sign so the rims would fit, but yeah you need a tiny spacer to clear the 26mm brakes with se's if you dont grind it down. But what i got to say about the brake swap is that i feel that my suspension is "heavier", i know the swap wieghts a s*** load more than the stock set up, but you can notice the wieght change. thanks for everyones help
