i was reading and it said to replace your shims on the brake pads every time u replace a brake pad. Does anyone know if when u buy new brake pads they come with it?? or u have to buy them separate

Well, if it's necessary, I would think they would include it with the pads right? This would be a good 240sx tech question, you should post it there.

you have to buy them seperate.. I doubt they come with the pads.

and imo... you don't have to... (cuz I don't lol), but if you feel safer doing so, go for it. Its not expensive.

You only need to replace the shims if they're showing signs of excessive wear.

Where did you read this? The service manual or some random post?

yeah i saw it on the fsm it said you should replace the shims when replacing pads.... so i was just wondering if they came with the pads or had to buy them seperate were can i get the shims?

Pardon my noobness, but if shims are the metal 'backing plates' that sit between the pad and the piston, then my AutoZone pads for the Integra came with them....
