Hey guys...I have had my 300zx TT brakes for probably two years without any problems. I was in an accident in october, and upon taking the car into the shop i noticed the right front was grabbing w/o braking. Whenever i came out of gear to coast the car would slow by itself, and when i got out at the shop, the right front was burning up. I could feel the heat from 3 feet away from my rim.

I have looked at the caliper and it looks almost like the brake pads are touching closer to the hub than they were before. You can tell where the pads have been grabbing since install, and now you see another 1/4" of area that looks like is now touching....

My 300zx brakes have never really impressed me as far as performance. They do not feel as though they grab as hard. They lock up quite easy on hard braking. My best 60-0 is 149 ft!!! I hope maybe i just have some cheap pads. Mine are aluminum 30mm, with crossdilled & slotted front rotors. The rear are still stock 240 brakes, as well as stock master cylinder.

Any help would be greatly appreciated....

Does anyone know where to get 300zx rotors that are already drilled for the 240? And is there any way to turn drilled/slotted rotors?

Did the wheel or assembly get hit? It is possible that the assembly is bent. Also make sure the line has not collapsed and isn't kinked. If all that checks out, then more than likely the caliper is stuck and will need to be rebuilt or replaced.

As far as performance. Of course they are going to feel funny. The proportioning is going to be funky because you went to large volume fronts, but left on the low volume rears.

As far as them locking up. If the rears are locking you have a proportioning problem. If the fronts are locking, then you really need to get some better tires. The brakes can only do as much as the tires will hold.

I have stainless lines on the front...and the side that is screwy was the opposite from impact. You are right about the tires.....when i first got them i had 205's...now i have 235's but they still are not to difficult too lock up.

The composition of the tire has more to do with grip than size. If the front brakes are locking up, they're "grabbing" just fine. What kind of tires are you running right now?

they are either Michelin pilot sports, or goodyear eagle f-1's....I miss my yokohama

I think my caliper is sticking because after hard braking, the car slows quicker on its own...whereas if i lightly brake, then let loose, the pressure is not as bad on the rotor....
